Description Before the advent of the Diesel engine trains made big industry possible, railroads stretched over miles and miles of land cutting through wilderness and connecting towns, across the United States new towns sprung up out of nowhere as railroad stops.

This is Sherman Station, in the early 1900's this was one of the busiest and largest railroad stations in the state of Maine, it ran the entire upper end of the B&O railroad. Because of this rail station my hometown was founded. It still stands, sort of, this is a photo of it in present time, I am still looking through some old town files to look for a photo of it back when it was in full working order. This is the only building that is left there, out of like 10 or so that were. Shot in muted color so that I could translate it properly into black and white.

Black and White version can be seen here [link]

No post processing outside of my border and my name.

Enjoy.

I love old train depots. They have such a nice feel to them, like old voices whispering.

the dull colors really add to the forgotten feeling of the building.
