Wow, great work here with this papercraft model.
I have just downloaded the template and it seems that it is not too difficult.
I wouldn't have the patience / motivation to turn it in a diorama as you did.

Thanks. Template has 12 sheets and 77 pieces. That is more than any other model I have made so far, but it is not difficult.

Glad you like it. It is a vintage model. It was aimed to teenagers or parents working with their children.

Sounds good to me! And thanks for putting up with me!
The macro lens picks up little details that are flaws when putting the thing together. There are inevitable line at folds, for example. And when you are dealing with the macro lens... it's easy to lose focus, too. So... yeah, not easy. I hope to improve in the future, though!
Well... glad to hear that you don't mind me handing out ideas that I can't even make work. Let's just say, I try my best to help! (Oh, and thanks for letting me know that my own experiments were OK. I still think it looks like a 80's movie set... )
Natural light is still great. But depending on what you are filming, sometimes it just doesn't work out. Macro is one of those cases where natural light doesn't do very well. But having a set up helps, having multiple lights help, too. My dad bought a mini studio on line for about $30 many years ago to take photos of his merchandise. It's still quite functional, actually. I was planning on borrowing it from him some time in the future...

Yeah but its hard not worry lol. I know but I worry about those I care about
Haha yeah, instead of taking my time, then taking my sleep, and getting very little out of either
Lol, not sure if I said before, but I have used microscopes, conventional ones anyway, not electron microscopes, but conventional microscopes are FAR easier to focus than a macro lens!!! Trust me its a bitch! You ever wind up in Michigan in the Detroit metro area, lets meet up and I can show you lol. Not trying to bitch at you or anything Hope that didn't come off as rude or anything.
Haha the Canadian version would be bad enough but you sent me the UK version!!!! How could you!?
Lol, that must suck actually. Yeah I think I did but for a lot of the still lifes I shoot, or I should say I want to shoot, idk that it would give me enough to work with if that makes sense? For macro it would be nice though. If you find instructions you like let me know, and I will let you know too if I make something
Oh you already said that lol sorry Sounds good

You don't need to make promises, my friend. A promise is something very important, not easily give away!
I know you still care, that's what matters, right?
I find the stereomicroscope harder to focus, mostly because of its very nature. You see, light microscopes have two lenses, but you are still looking at one flat image. (So it's perfectly fine to look through a light microscope with just one eye.) Confocal is basically a stack of flat images, so that's not bad, either. Stereo, on the other hand, is meant for you to see a 3D image. It's like a macro lens with a very short focal length. And that... can be a pain in the butt. That's why the whole "microscope" vs "macro lens" talk sounded all the same to me... stereo is just like a macro lens that doesn't take a picture...
Oh, that's because the different Amazons have different things. Some things are specific to local Amazons.
I got a small figure of the 10th Doctor from a UK Amazon seller last year, for example. Can't find that stuff anywhere else!
See...? It -does- look like a small laundry hamper! I wasn't joking! If I ever find one...

... er, no. That ain't helping it.
A confocal microscope? Well, you're in luck... a bit, at least. For a period of my life I was chained to one of those things... You see, a confocal is basically like a normal microscope connected to a computer, and put on steroids. You can change the focus depth on a normal microscope by a series of knobs and cranks and what that does is to change the position of these small lenses that line the path of light so it can focus at a certain depth. Well... you take that contraption, and change the light source (from normal visible light to single-wave length tight beam, close to laser). And instead of fine-tuning the focal depth with cranks, you use a mathematical formula to control that movement on a computer... and you get a confocal microscope. That's why it's technically easier to use than a normal one - because the computer does a lot of the work for you. And at the end of it, the computer stacks the images up for you, so the final image can look 3D. Kinda like this: To See the World in a Grain of Sand: Microscopy (some of the images in there are from my own lab, actually.)
Macro lens is controlled my human muscle movement instead of gears, so it's harder to focus. The image jumps because every small movement you make translates to a huge movement in the lens. But the stereo makes things tough because the focal length is so very short. Like what I said... it wasn't a very enjoyable experience...
I ordered through the UK one and didn't have an issue. My brother is my US address. As for the Japan one... well, most of the time I look for fun. It's the most stringent of all Amazons, you see. Most companies won't ship this way. But the other ones will. Sometimes it's just a higher S&H fee. Oh, I know the Funko line. I'll keep an eye out for you, if you want.
Thanks!

Oh, nobody mentioned the computer part? Boy, that's gotta be the most important part of the whole confocal microscope! It can't function without the computer, you see. That's what makes the whole contraption work... for better or worse. Glad that we can get this figured out, though. And glad to hear that you liked the pictures!
As far as macro-lenses go... hein, you'd know better than I do. So... I'm going to leave that one to you.
A lot of the times, shipping is free within US if you buy off of the US Amazon. Shipping and handling is usually what kills a deal at the end of the day, really. The other bonus, of course, is that my brother subscribed to Amazon Prime (for the shows, but it also works out nice for the shipping, too.) So... yeah, he's my go-to US address. As far as the Japanese Amazon goes... it's usually like that. In fact, there are a lot of Japan-based shopping sites that won't ship out of Japan (or charge an arm and a leg doing so.) Somewhere in the back of my mind I think it's Japan's way of getting back at everybody for the bombs...
I just checked the miniatures that you mentioned out... they are blind-boxes! Oh, bloody hell, why do they have to be blind boxes? The person who invented them need to go to a special place in Hell. But... depending on where you are getting them, some stores actually let you weigh them. And since they can't be sure every figure weighs the same, sometimes you can find the ones you want that way. (One of the stores I go to actually has a little scale for just that purpose. They let people weigh the boxes, but they said they don't know which one is which and we have to do our own homework.) It's food for thought, that's for sure. I haven't seen this exact set in the stores I usually go, however. (At least, not in Ontario where I live now.) I'll definitely keep an eye out for you, though.

Well... whenever you've got the time, I guess. The way I see it, I would rather see you sleep more instead of reading articles. Especially if I was the one writing them! So... take your time!
... I like that analogy "fighting a boss in super-hard games". I bet we're also playing in suicide mode! But I hear you. That's something I've gotta try out. Maybe when I build another one of those miniature buildings!
Amazon... is pretty great, all things considered. Although, I still have to say, the Canadian version kinda blows when compared to the US version. It's unfortunate. But then again, I shouldn't complain. I've got a US address!
Oh, the porn? You won't believe this, but we have the US to blame for that. You might say... we've got the Americans to thank for the bomb -and- the weird porn! www.cracked.com/article_19098_… Which means... er... I wouldn't touch that with a stolen 10-foot pole...
Blind boxes are created, mostly for the sole purpose to making people buy them until they get the one they wanted. And that's something I have seen multiple times. They are... basically, evil little packages of surprises. Back when they first appeared (about 5, 6 years ago), I have seen people who stood in front of booths in conventions and basically shelling out everything in their pockets to buy one box after another. It's the "I want to get -that- one!" mentality that keeps people playing this roulette. I don't know... it's just not me. I like something a bit more definite. Borrowing a shooting analogy, I won't fire until I see the white of their eyes!
Now, I don't think selling guns are legal on the Canadian Amazon. But at least I can keep an eye out for the little figures. But I do have to agree with you there, guns are useful no matter how old they are. And if they are old... hey, bonus for being antique!
Take care!

I will prolly go to sleep soon so lets hope I can get through some more comments before then
Yeah I definitely want to enjoy it as much as possible
Having played Cup Head recently that analogy is quite relevant to me too Lol, idk about THAT hard
Yeah! You have access to a DSLR?
Aww really? What sucks about the Canadian one? Haha true
Lol, this is gonna sound pathetic, but could you copy that text and note me a text file of the article or something? That page bogged down my laptop and I have no clue why I had to force quit Chrome! Sorry
Oh yeah, I mean I know why they are made, just was curious of your take on them.
Man I wonder why it gets ahold of people like that :/ I do like the online market it creates for them but I do not like how over priced they are. Thats where the greed comes in :/ It really can get kinda evil.
I can understand that Other collectable figures can get even more pricey though so idk how I feel about that, more money than I would want to put out a lot of the time ya know? I do plan on getting some though as they are really cool
Haha very good. Or as I would say, till I see the white of the paper Or would it be orange of the target depending on what kind of target you have?
Well you can't sell guns on amazon here either, though you can buy loads of accessories and stuff, like I have bought a sling, speed loaders for my revolver, a few holsters, stuff like that
There are places you can buy guns online here but you have to ship them to a FFL location (someone with a federal firearms license, essentially a gun store) and then they do the background check before transferring the gun to you.
Hehe yeah Thanks again
Yeah! Exactly! I can take a deer with a modern rifle.. but its so much cooler to be sitting out in the cold with an old Soviet Mosin Nagant, maybe even one that was in a war, and shoot the deer with that! Feed yourself with history! Gets frustrating to see people not care about pieces of history, useful ones at that, but that means more, and cheaper for me and you if you get into shooting
You too

Well... I guess we'll have to see!
I actually don't have access to a DSLR. Heck, I've never used a SLR, digital or not. It's something I've always wanted to learn but never had the chance to, you know? Point-and-click has been my go-to.
The Canadian one... generally have fewer stuff than the American one. And if you take two listings side by side, the US is usually cheaper, especially if you take the tax into consideration. So... yeah, let's just say that I am glad to have a US address!
Oh, dear, is that right? That's too bad. Here's the article: 6 WTF Japanese Trends (You can blame on White guys
I think when the blind boxes first came out, people get hooked on the "just that one" idea. It's like a roulette, and you know some folks will put in money because they think they can win. And when they first came out, the prices are of the mid-range so people think they are getting something in return anyway. I find that the prices of the average blind box has come down a bit. But people can still go crazy for them. It's a pretty harrowing thought, really. I understand that figures can get really expensive, but then again, it's like buying a piece of art. You don't get to do it often, but when you do, it's expensive. I guess that's why I want to know what I am buying, you know? (Glad to hear you liked my little analogy. But yes... white of the paper works just as well. )
I am not sure if I can guy gun accessories on Canadian Amazon - but then again, I've never tried. But maybe that's a possibility. I just have to check to see for sure.
But I hear what you are saying, though. I will take an older gun any day! (Heck, I have books dating back to 1890's just sitting casually at home. Why -wouldn't- I want an old gun? )

Aww that sucks if you plan to try and get one look for an older model Even something as old as the D70 my dad's got! Its only 100-150 bucks usd A very affordable option and a good way to get ur foot in the door!
Ah ok. That is a pain! Yeah definitely
Yeah My machine needs more memory. It only have 4 gig
Lol, omg that was one of the more bias articles I have ever read! I hope you don't feel the same way about that stuff that the self hating american who wrote it does! Considering that, I can imagine how skewed the portrayal of things were in there. I can't imagine it was exactly objective lol. That being said, assuming the hard facts were legit, they are still really weird and its just as much their "fault" as anyone else's due to the way they mutated things lol (besides my family was not even in the country until the 30s or 40s lol). Any idea why they don't repeal that porn law now that they have relative autonomy? Can they?
Anyway, I know that article was written in a satirical light despite it being serious in a lot of ways. All that being said, "putting their foot down" is no excuse for whaling a species to extinction if you ask me!
Hope I don't sound like a conceited white cis male lol. However opinionated pieces like that get under my skin. Was funny and interesting regardless.
Yeah fair point. I understand why you would hate them, and they are overpriced. You make a good point. For a serious collector I can see how they are the devil. I find them fun, but that's only because I do not mind much, the price is lowish now, and there is actually an online market for them now. I also have never been one to get hooked like that.
I do feel a little guilty supporting such corporate greed to be honest, considering what it does to some people
I am sure you can I do not see why not anyway, its not against their policy. They do not sell magazines though. Got to go elsewhere for that!
Yeah So much more stylish too
Haha oh man! that is cool! That is the way to keep your antiques if you ask me! Keep em alive by making them part of your life
Speaking of guns, I need a new mag for my rifle if I am to go hunting

That's a great idea, thanks! I've been checking out the local stores' flyers, too. I am hoping that with Christmas coming around, I might be able to find something on sale.
And it also explains why I am not looking at Amazon, too. At least, not the Canadian one!
Cracked.com has a crack team (pardon the pun) of writers who are liberal, self-depreciating and generally provocative. And they know how to do satire. Now, I don't agree with everything they've said in all of their articles, but I do enjoy the satirical humour. Besides, the history actually checks out this time. There's the rumour that the word "Hunky-dory" had a Japanese origin. The word came from "Honcho Dori" - which is a main street in Yokohama that leads from the port. Some say it was turned into an entertainment (and therefore red-light) district for the Americans who landed during the first invasion of Japan. While the rest of Japan still held on to its old ways, the "Hunky-Dory" was where the American values slowly seeped in. And the Japanese put up a "everything is OK" front for the Americans on the Honcho Dori as well. As for "repealing the porn law"... well, that's a great question. I wish I could answer that for you. I just don't know! But this strange law -has- led to a lot of... er... innovations when it comes to the porn industry in Japan, that's for sure.
I like to think a lot of people think they are fun. And in a sense, they are - as long as you don't care which one out of the box you want. I am perpetually living in a bird cage, you see. So I would care about not wanting to flood my living quarters with miniature-sized... er... miniatures. I do know that there are people who trade them on-line, too. But that means I have to put in extra effort!
Oh, yeah... firearms and ammunition cannot be sold on Amazon. But as I just found out... other paraphernalia can be sold. Holsters and cleaning supplies and all that can be found.
I love old stuff, I can't lie - most of the books I own (except for textbooks) are older than I am. And I wouldn't have it any other way. And let it be known that I actually read them. Sure, some of the information is badly outdated, but that just adds to their charm, really. That's one way to keep the past alive!
Good luck finding that new magazine!

Not much in terms of colors; Himeji has been recently fully renovated, and it's roofs are actually white like most walls, which means we have been looking at roofs full of silt accumulated over time.
Now it really is like a formidable Great White Egret with wings wide open! ^^
Kumamoto in the other hand has quite of an austerous, but extremely relaxing looks, and thus more similar to the even more famous Matsumoto Castle.
I already built all Canon Creative Park castles, the last one being the Matsuyama Castle complex; you should try at least one of these, they take you lots of hours and burn patience like a huge Diesel engine, but the final outcome pays off so much it even makes you eager to build another castle!
