Description The Himeji Castle, also known as the "White Heron Castle" dates back to 1333. It was considered as the the finest surviving example of prototypical Japanese castle architecture, comprising a network of 83 buildings with advanced defensive systems from the feudal period. The nickname "White heron" comes from the fanned out layers of roofs and the pristine white of its walls, reminding the on-lookers for a flock of white herons. Today, Himeji Castle is the largest and most visited castle in Japan, and it was registered in 1993 as one of the first UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the country.

This small diorama features the main keep, known as the Daitenshu (大天守) of the castle. This part of the building had been designated as a National treasure by itself.

P.S.: Rin would like me to remind you: "Winter's coming. Wear a hat."

Thanks a million!
... Ceramic things and I don't mix. I am entirely too clumsy for that sort of things. But paper... well, paper doesn't shatter, you know?

Wow, great work here with this papercraft model.
I have just downloaded the template and it seems that it is not too difficult.
I wouldn't have the patience / motivation to turn it in a diorama as you did.

Thank you very much!
I am glad to hear that you have downloaded the model. I would love to see your version of it. I am sure it'll be even better than mine!

As for the diorama... well, I just like dioramas. I think they are a lot of fun to make. You most certainly don't need to do that. Just building the castle is enough!
Best of luck!

Thanks. Template has 12 sheets and 77 pieces. That is more than any other model I have made so far, but it is not difficult.

Oh, that sounds like a big model! I wish you the best of luck with it!

I like building dioramas and buildings. I think this one sounds like a nice challenge. I might consider building something like that in the future, too!

I remember those old models, too. I had a kit that was supposed to build a dinosaur. I never finished it... and now I don't know where it is anymore!

To be honest, I'm impressed a lot more on how you presented it rather than how you built it

It looks convincingly expertly made!

You are probably better at building it than I am!
But I've always wanted to build something and present it like a miniature instead of "just a papercraft model". I think it helps people to pay more attention to the craft itself, you know?

Either way, thank you so very much for your support and your kind words!

I like the thought of that!
Besides... have I ever mentioned that my brother used to play miniature war games like Warhammer? I loved the idea of building terrains. I think it's a part of the whole experience that most people seem to overlook. But I want to build them and build good ones!

... oh, yeah... and two of my cousins are architects...

Hahaha that's awesome! It's cool to build stuff, especially your creations are close to the professional work.

But I don't play building games... I do remember playing minecraft but in the end I uninstall it. There's nothing compared to building stuff in real life!

Someday I plan to be a mechanical engineer to learn how to build with gears and motors (which will be very helpful to my crazy D.I.Y. projects!) or if not that works out, I'm fine being a software programmer

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SinistrosePhosphate In reply to MarcGo26 [2017-12-22 07:34:54 +0000 UTC]

I guess so! (Well, building little temples don't have much to do with medicine. But then again... I have architects in the family. The need to build runs in the blood!

You are right. I don't like building games, either. The game I was talking about looks like this: www.google.ca/search?q=warhamm… So it's not really a building game. it's a game that involves some very physical buildings! Because you are absolutely right - digital buildings don't compared to the real thing!

I hope you can reach your goal! It sounds really difficult, but really impressive! Software programming is cool, too. But a mechanical engineer is definitely something that will work out very nicely for you! ! Best of luck, my friend!

OH now that I finally read that, that is amazing Great subject to chose to create! Something with that kind of history I love that you added all that! As far as improving its presentation, what do you think about zooming in on certain elements of it? Idk much about the build but I am sure there are specific parts that were interesting to make ect.
What you use for lighting?

SinistrosePhosphate In reply to Loffy0 [2017-10-09 02:57:04 +0000 UTC]

No problems at all!
Didn't I say that I consider everybody to be busy on the baseline?

I'm glad that you liked the build. I had a lot of fun building the extra parts! (The castle itself... boy, that was a pain. Sweet pain, but pain. ) I hear what you're saying about the presentation, too. I didn't zoom in further because there were still little flaws in the build. I was hoping to hide them with a slightly wider shot. (I got rid of about half a dozen shots that I didn't liked because they highlighted these flaws.) When my castle-building kung-fu is stronger, I'll probably take even closer shots.

As for the lighting... Just natural light. I am awful with artificial lighting so I usually end up with natural light. I like the late afternoon or slightly cloudy days. They work out really nicely. (Well, early morning works, too. But depending on the weather, the lights ended up being too cold.) So, yeah.. just grunt work on my side... grunt work on checking the Weather network!

Haha I know what you mean! I kinda felt like that about focusing that macro lens
Ah ok, fair enough! You did a good job then cuz I didn't notice any!
I would like to see that

OOOOoooohhhhh so you suck at artificial lighting but you were trying to tell ME how to do it!? I see how it isssssss You know I am only joking haha. I hear you though. Artificial light is a bitch I just earlier today figured out why I get shadows still while using two lights! Haha.

Sounds good to me! We'll just acknowledge each other in the so-called "lateness" business.

Yeah... the macro lens don't lie! (it's also damned unforgiving, too. But that's a slightly different story. ) In the meantime, I'm planning on what to do with my little buildings next. I am looking for one that I can do a job with the posing and all. So... it's in the planning stages. When I start to build the next one, I'll make sure to improve on the infrastructure!

... you caught me there. I know how to do a lot of things in theory, but that doesn't mean I can pull them off in real life. I tried artificial lighting in the past and actually did a couple of things I now teach people. But at the end of the day, for one reason or another, things just doesn't seem to work out very well. Bates Motel with Dr Who  is something I did with artificial lighting. It make the whole thing look like an old movie set... So I figured... if I can get by with natural light (it's a lot cheaper, too...), I'll just stick with it.

Its ok, I know what you mean I will admit it is kinda fun/funny to call someone out on something mundane like this but I know you were only trying to help
Oh that looked cool
Yeah for sure! I have had my ass kicked in contests many a time by still life shots with natural lighting while I am trying something with artifitial light lol.

Sounds good to me! And thanks for putting up with me!

The macro lens picks up little details that are flaws when putting the thing together. There are inevitable line at folds, for example. And when you are dealing with the macro lens... it's easy to lose focus, too. So... yeah, not easy. I hope to improve in the future, though!

Well... glad to hear that you don't mind me handing out ideas that I can't even make work. Let's just say, I try my best to help! (Oh, and thanks for letting me know that my own experiments were OK. I still think it looks like a 80's movie set...
Natural light is still great. But depending on what you are filming, sometimes it just doesn't work out. Macro is one of those cases where natural light doesn't do very well. But having a set up helps, having multiple lights help, too. My dad bought a mini studio on line for about $30 many years ago to take photos of his merchandise. It's still quite functional, actually. I was planning on borrowing it from him some time in the future...

Yeah haha. I can tell you that one first hand I did not mean use a macro lens or anything though. Just shoot closer up to see details, but not the flaws. If you shoot right you should be able to pull it off.
Cool can't wait to see

Hey at least you are trying to help
Hehe maybe lol.

Yeah! Oh that is cool! Where did he get it? What does the mini studio consist of?

Heavens, no. Why would I be upset?
Remember... sleep is more important for you right now. Don't make me have to be worried about you!

Macro lenses can be devilish, I find. It can be so unforgiving! Well, at least it gives me a reason to be better at what I do, I guess. Can't lose to the lens!

He got the portable studio on-line. The kit looks like this: www.amazon.co.uk/Portable-Stud… (I think this is exactly the one he had, except I have no idea where the two lamps had disappeared to... ) He's been using it under natural light now. And he seems to like the results. I can't complain! If I can borrow it from him, though, I think I'll experiment with the lighting. Well... whenever the heck he'll lend it to me, I guess. Otherwise... when I move out, it's time to get another one!

Thanks on that note I will have to wait to reply to the note even longer as I need sleeeep. So you will hate me now for sure now!

Yes! They are as devilish and unforgiving as they are irrelevant here! I never said anything about a macro lens Your right though.

Oh its a light tent! Cool I have thought about making one! Why did you have to give me the heathan version of amazon UGH
I hope you do! That would be PERFECT for craft photos you can make one yourself if you like

Aah, well, you know be better than that. There are a lot of things for people to worry about. It's just life, you know?
So don't you worry one bit about it. Take your sleep first! ... and then take your time.

That's OK. I deal with micro lenses (Well, microscope lenses. ) They are worse than macro! So you might say I'm ranting from experience.

A heathen version of Amazon? Dude, Amazon is world-wide! (Although, Amazon US has more stuff than Amazon Canada. I sometimes have to ask my brother to get stuff for me because it's not available in Canada... ) Besides, if you look hard enough, I am sure you'll find one in the US version. I might eventually have to jury-rig one for myself. Dad is so used to his light tent where it is that I highly doubt he'll let me use it. I know there are tutorials on line about how to rig one up. I just need to look it up! In the meantime... if you beat me to it, let me know how it's working out for you!

Loffy0 In reply to SinistrosePhosphate [2017-10-22 19:30:11 +0000 UTC]

Yeah but its hard not worry lol. I know but I worry about those I care about
Haha yeah, instead of taking my time, then taking my sleep, and getting very little out of either

Lol, not sure if I said before, but I have used microscopes, conventional ones anyway, not electron microscopes, but conventional microscopes are FAR easier to focus than a macro lens!!! Trust me its a bitch! You ever wind up in Michigan in the Detroit metro area, lets meet up and I can show you lol. Not trying to bitch at you or anything Hope that didn't come off as rude or anything.

Haha the Canadian version would be bad enough but you sent me the UK version!!!! How could you!?
Lol, that must suck actually. Yeah I think I did but for a lot of the still lifes I shoot, or I should say I want to shoot, idk that it would give me enough to work with if that makes sense? For macro it would be nice though. If you find instructions you like let me know, and I will let you know too if I make something
Oh you already said that lol sorry Sounds good

SinistrosePhosphate In reply to Loffy0 [2017-10-23 02:06:15 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for being worried! But honestly... it's OK. I'll survive.
So yes... sleep is important. If you don't get enough sleep, everything you do will feel (and need) even longer to accomplish. Don't want that!

Well... I deal with different kinds of microscopes... and some of them are kinda awful. The conventional ones actually aren't bad (since most people don't use the oil-immersion lens. ) Let's put it this way... you probably have a lot more experience with a macro lens but I've beat you on the microscope bit. Let's just take each other's word for it?

Hey, be glad I didn't send you Amazon Japan! (Yup... I check that, too.)
Now you know... I either work with landscape and scenery... or I deal with some really small things. For me, a light tent would be pretty good for most of my indoor shots. It's just about what you want to use it for, you know? I will say this, though. Some of these tents look an awful lot like a small clothes hamper. If I ever find a suitable one, I wouldn't mind experimenting with that first! If all else fails... it's still a bloody clothes hamper...

Sounds good to me, too!

Well I can't make any promises I still care
Yeah! Lol.

Ah ok, so your talking about other kinds of microscopes that are hard to focus. Which ones? Just curious.
Never was trying to imply you didn't know microscopes Of coarse you have more experience with them, but I guess I should of taken into account we may be talking about two different kinds and instead of going "rawr" just believe you and inquire more. Sorry
For sure!

Why do you check all these different amazons??
Hehe yeah really! Yeah
Hahah omg your right they do look like clothes hampers Thats a great idea!

SinistrosePhosphate In reply to Loffy0 [2017-10-25 13:54:04 +0000 UTC]

You don't need to make promises, my friend. A promise is something very important, not easily give away!
I know you still care, that's what matters, right?

I find the stereomicroscope harder to focus, mostly because of its very nature. You see, light microscopes have two lenses, but you are still looking at one flat image. (So it's perfectly fine to look through a light microscope with just one eye.) Confocal is basically a stack of flat images, so that's not bad, either. Stereo, on the other hand, is meant for you to see a 3D image. It's like a macro lens with a very short focal length. And that... can be a pain in the butt. That's why the whole "microscope" vs "macro lens" talk sounded all the same to me... stereo is just like a macro lens that doesn't take a picture...

Oh, that's because the different Amazons have different things. Some things are specific to local Amazons.
I got a small figure of the 10th Doctor from a UK Amazon seller last year, for example. Can't find that stuff anywhere else!
See...? It -does- look like a small laundry hamper! I wasn't joking! If I ever find one...

Loffy0 In reply to SinistrosePhosphate [2017-10-28 05:42:59 +0000 UTC]

Its easy to give away so long as its hollow That ain't helping is it

Ah ok. I think I have used stereo microscopes before. I wasn't sure what you meant but as soon as I started reading up on them I have some vauge memory of the type of image they render, or I guess how one perceives it as being 3D so I get that I do not know off hand what a confocal microscope is however and its pissing me off I can't figure out how it works! I know your focusing tight beams of light through a small aperture to get high resolutions at specific depths but I am not sure how this is done or what kind of image you would get. I feel stupid.. but it could be that I am in sleep mode and getting ready for bed. I would not mind if you explained it a bit for me though (when I was reading up on it there were some mathematical terms I didn't know)
That makes sense I would be willing to bet the stereo microscope is easier in theory to focus, but prolly not for what you need to do with it (again not sure cuz I only used one a few times). The macro lens was just real jumpy not being as precise an instrument as a microscope if that makes sense. Not sure though, would have to try both.

Well how do you order though? I thought your brother needs to buy from the american one for you? I would not know though as I do not use the other ones.
Lol, awesome I have started collecting the gears of war funko mini figures

Goodluck then

SinistrosePhosphate In reply to Loffy0 [2017-10-29 01:54:22 +0000 UTC]

... er, no. That ain't helping it.

A confocal microscope? Well, you're in luck... a bit, at least. For a period of my life I was chained to one of those things... You see, a confocal is basically like a normal microscope connected to a computer, and put on steroids. You can change the focus depth on a normal microscope by a series of knobs and cranks and what that does is to change the position of these small lenses that line the path of light so it can focus at a certain depth. Well... you take that contraption, and change the light source (from normal visible light to single-wave length tight beam, close to laser). And instead of fine-tuning the focal depth with cranks, you use a mathematical formula to control that movement on a computer... and you get a confocal microscope. That's why it's technically easier to use than a normal one - because the computer does a lot of the work for you. And at the end of it, the computer stacks the images up for you, so the final image can look 3D. Kinda like this: To See the World in a Grain of Sand: Microscopy  (some of the images in there are from my own lab, actually.)

Macro lens is controlled my human muscle movement instead of gears, so it's harder to focus. The image jumps because every small movement you make translates to a huge movement in the lens. But the stereo makes things tough because the focal length is so very short. Like what I said... it wasn't a very enjoyable experience...

I ordered through the UK one and didn't have an issue. My brother is my US address. As for the Japan one... well, most of the time I look for fun. It's the most stringent of all Amazons, you see. Most companies won't ship this way. But the other ones will. Sometimes it's just a higher S&H fee. Oh, I know the Funko line. I'll keep an eye out for you, if you want.

Thanks!

Oh god lol. Uh I know how a regular microscope works lol. Its basically the same thing as most optical lenses lol. It was just the con-focal one I didn't get
Oh ok, that makes a lot more sense. For some reason where I was reading, it wasn't saying anything about needing a computer to view it.
Oh ok, that is a good point. Its going to be so much more precise.Oh nice! Those were awesome! Took a quick look at it as I am going to bed soon Those are really cool though

Haha omg I know how my own lens works shooooosh lol. I am not upset, its just kinda funny your explaining that lol. But yeah, that is why it was such a pain in the ass trying to focus the damned macro lens!, Till I used one I assumed it would be cammed back and forth through rotating a focus ring, not just pushing and pulling it like that.
I can imagine not!

Ah ok, cool! Oh ok you just have them ship to your brother because its cheaper and or quicker right?
Ah that is odd. Wonder why the Japanese one is like that.
Yeah, I had too but until recently I didn't know they made mini ones. I can show you a picture at some point I think they look better than the normal big headed weird funko guys! If you do keep an eye out for good deals lemme know

Welcome

Oh, nobody mentioned the computer part? Boy, that's gotta be the most important part of the whole confocal microscope! It can't function without the computer, you see. That's what makes the whole contraption work... for better or worse. Glad that we can get this figured out, though. And glad to hear that you liked the pictures!

As far as macro-lenses go... hein, you'd know better than I do. So... I'm going to leave that one to you.

A lot of the times, shipping is free within US if you buy off of the US Amazon. Shipping and handling is usually what kills a deal at the end of the day, really. The other bonus, of course, is that my brother subscribed to Amazon Prime (for the shows, but it also works out nice for the shipping, too.) So... yeah, he's my go-to US address. As far as the Japanese Amazon goes... it's usually like that. In fact, there are a lot of Japan-based shopping sites that won't ship out of Japan (or charge an arm and a leg doing so.) Somewhere in the back of my mind I think it's Japan's way of getting back at everybody for the bombs...

I just checked the miniatures that you mentioned out... they are blind-boxes! Oh, bloody hell, why do they have to be blind boxes? The person who invented them need to go to a special place in Hell. But... depending on where you are getting them, some stores actually let you weigh them. And since they can't be sure every figure weighs the same, sometimes you can find the ones you want that way. (One of the stores I go to actually has a little scale for just that purpose. They let people weigh the boxes, but they said they don't know which one is which and we have to do our own homework.) It's food for thought, that's for sure. I haven't seen this exact set in the stores I usually go, however. (At least, not in Ontario where I live now.) I'll definitely keep an eye out for you, though.

Yeah it sounds it
Of coarse I will have to remember to read that article at some point. However as of late it sure feels like I have no time I am not busy though

Hehe yeah I encourage you to try one one day though Its like fighting a boss in a super hard game. Maddening when your doing it but FEELS SO GOOD WHEN IT WORKS lol.
Also hope I did not come off as rude or anything about saying "I know how my lenses work RAWR"

Oh yeah, I LOVE prime! We all pay into it and my dad has his account prime Yeah I do not watch anything on Amazon, just buy stuff from them! Its great I can get everything from shooting supplies to crafting supplies All prime shipped Good idea
Well yeah, look at how weird the bomb made their porn! Only nuclear radiation could cause something like that! I would be mad too

Hahaha they do not cost much but I find them fun Plus they sell on ebay for less than I can get them in store Why do you hate blind boxes so much? I guess I can see why but I would like to hear your opinion. I think of it like opening a pointless pack of magic cards.. cuz figures are pointless Cute, but pointless lol.
Oh shit I never thought of that, that is cool Aww thanks its no big deal right now.. if I can't find them at a certain point I will let you know but that means a lot you are keeping an eye out I am only buying one per check right now as I am looking for an old Browning A5. Its that time of year when people turn in their old shotguns to get a new hunting rifle for deer season. Doesn't matter the hobby, everyone always wants the latest and greatest >.< Personally I rather have a 100 year old bolt action mil-surp rifle. Would be more than enough to take a deer!
Anyway, thanks again

Well... whenever you've got the time, I guess. The way I see it, I would rather see you sleep more instead of reading articles. Especially if I was the one writing them! So... take your time!

... I like that analogy "fighting a boss in super-hard games". I bet we're also playing in suicide mode! But I hear you. That's something I've gotta try out. Maybe when I build another one of those miniature buildings!

Amazon... is pretty great, all things considered. Although, I still have to say, the Canadian version kinda blows when compared to the US version. It's unfortunate. But then again, I shouldn't complain. I've got a US address!

Oh, the porn? You won't believe this, but we have the US to blame for that. You might say... we've got the Americans to thank for the bomb -and- the weird porn! www.cracked.com/article_19098_… Which means... er... I wouldn't touch that with a stolen 10-foot pole...

Blind boxes are created, mostly for the sole purpose to making people buy them until they get the one they wanted. And that's something I have seen multiple times. They are... basically, evil little packages of surprises. Back when they first appeared (about 5, 6 years ago), I have seen people who stood in front of booths in conventions and basically shelling out everything in their pockets to buy one box after another. It's the "I want to get -that- one!" mentality that keeps people playing this roulette. I don't know... it's just not me. I like something a bit more definite. Borrowing a shooting analogy, I won't fire until I see the white of their eyes!

Now, I don't think selling guns are legal on the Canadian Amazon. But at least I can keep an eye out for the little figures. But I do have to agree with you there, guns are useful no matter how old they are. And if they are old... hey, bonus for being antique!

Take care!

I will prolly go to sleep soon so lets hope I can get through some more comments before then
Yeah I definitely want to enjoy it as much as possible
Having played Cup Head recently that analogy is quite relevant to me too Lol, idk about THAT hard
Yeah! You have access to a DSLR?

Aww really? What sucks about the Canadian one? Haha true

Lol, this is gonna sound pathetic, but could you copy that text and note me a text file of the article or something? That page bogged down my laptop and I have no clue why I had to force quit Chrome! Sorry

Oh yeah, I mean I know why they are made, just was curious of your take on them.
Man I wonder why it gets ahold of people like that :/ I do like the online market it creates for them but I do not like how over priced they are. Thats where the greed comes in :/ It really can get kinda evil.
I can understand that Other collectable figures can get even more pricey though so idk how I feel about that, more money than I would want to put out a lot of the time ya know? I do plan on getting some though as they are really cool
Haha very good. Or as I would say, till I see the white of the paper Or would it be orange of the target depending on what kind of target you have?

Well you can't sell guns on amazon here either, though you can buy loads of accessories and stuff, like I have bought a sling, speed loaders for my revolver, a few holsters, stuff like that
There are places you can buy guns online here but you have to ship them to a FFL location (someone with a federal firearms license, essentially a gun store) and then they do the background check before transferring the gun to you.
Hehe yeah Thanks again
Yeah! Exactly! I can take a deer with a modern rifle.. but its so much cooler to be sitting out in the cold with an old Soviet Mosin Nagant, maybe even one that was in a war, and shoot the deer with that! Feed yourself with history! Gets frustrating to see people not care about pieces of history, useful ones at that, but that means more, and cheaper for me and you if you get into shooting

You too

Well... I guess we'll have to see!

I actually don't have access to a DSLR. Heck, I've never used a SLR, digital or not. It's something I've always wanted to learn but never had the chance to, you know? Point-and-click has been my go-to.

The Canadian one... generally have fewer stuff than the American one. And if you take two listings side by side, the US is usually cheaper, especially if you take the tax into consideration. So... yeah, let's just say that I am glad to have a US address!

Oh, dear, is that right? That's too bad. Here's the article: 6 WTF Japanese Trends (You can blame on White guys

I think when the blind boxes first came out, people get hooked on the "just that one" idea. It's like a roulette, and you know some folks will put in money because they think they can win. And when they first came out, the prices are of the mid-range so people think they are getting something in return anyway. I find that the prices of the average blind box has come down a bit. But people can still go crazy for them. It's a pretty harrowing thought, really. I understand that figures can get really expensive, but then again, it's like buying a piece of art. You don't get to do it often, but when you do, it's expensive. I guess that's why I want to know what I am buying, you know? (Glad to hear you liked my little analogy. But yes... white of the paper works just as well. )

I am not sure if I can guy gun accessories on Canadian Amazon - but then again, I've never tried. But maybe that's a possibility. I just have to check to see for sure.
But I hear what you are saying, though. I will take an older gun any day! (Heck, I have books dating back to 1890's just sitting casually at home. Why -wouldn't- I want an old gun?

Aww that sucks if you plan to try and get one look for an older model Even something as old as the D70 my dad's got! Its only 100-150 bucks usd A very affordable option and a good way to get ur foot in the door!

Ah ok. That is a pain! Yeah definitely

Yeah My machine needs more memory. It only have 4 gig
Lol, omg that was one of the more bias articles I have ever read! I hope you don't feel the same way about that stuff that the self hating american who wrote it does! Considering that, I can imagine how skewed the portrayal of things were in there. I can't imagine it was exactly objective lol. That being said, assuming the hard facts were legit, they are still really weird and its just as much their "fault" as anyone else's due to the way they mutated things lol (besides my family was not even in the country until the 30s or 40s lol). Any idea why they don't repeal that porn law now that they have relative autonomy? Can they?
Anyway, I know that article was written in a satirical light despite it being serious in a lot of ways. All that being said, "putting their foot down" is no excuse for whaling a species to extinction if you ask me!
Hope I don't sound like a conceited white cis male lol. However opinionated pieces like that get under my skin. Was funny and interesting regardless.

Yeah fair point. I understand why you would hate them, and they are overpriced. You make a good point. For a serious collector I can see how they are the devil. I find them fun, but that's only because I do not mind much, the price is lowish now, and there is actually an online market for them now. I also have never been one to get hooked like that.
I do feel a little guilty supporting such corporate greed to be honest, considering what it does to some people

I am sure you can I do not see why not anyway, its not against their policy. They do not sell magazines though. Got to go elsewhere for that!
Yeah So much more stylish too
Haha oh man! that is cool! That is the way to keep your antiques if you ask me! Keep em alive by making them part of your life
Speaking of guns, I need a new mag for my rifle if I am to go hunting

That's a great idea, thanks! I've been checking out the local stores' flyers, too. I am hoping that with Christmas coming around, I might be able to find something on sale.
And it also explains why I am not looking at Amazon, too. At least, not the Canadian one!

Cracked.com has a crack team (pardon the pun) of writers who are liberal, self-depreciating and generally provocative. And they know how to do satire. Now, I don't agree with everything they've said in all of their articles, but I do enjoy the satirical humour. Besides, the history actually checks out this time. There's the rumour that the word "Hunky-dory" had a Japanese origin. The word came from "Honcho Dori" - which is a main street in Yokohama that leads from the port. Some say it was turned into an entertainment (and therefore red-light) district for the Americans who landed during the first invasion of Japan. While the rest of Japan still held on to its old ways, the "Hunky-Dory" was where the American values slowly seeped in. And the Japanese put up a "everything is OK" front for the Americans on the Honcho Dori as well. As for "repealing the porn law"... well, that's a great question. I wish I could answer that for you. I just don't know! But this strange law -has- led to a lot of... er... innovations when it comes to the porn industry in Japan, that's for sure.

I like to think a lot of people think they are fun. And in a sense, they are - as long as you don't care which one out of the box you want. I am perpetually living in a bird cage, you see. So I would care about not wanting to flood my living quarters with miniature-sized... er... miniatures. I do know that there are people who trade them on-line, too. But that means I have to put in extra effort!

Oh, yeah... firearms and ammunition cannot be sold on Amazon. But as I just found out... other paraphernalia can be sold. Holsters and cleaning supplies and all that can be found.
I love old stuff, I can't lie - most of the books I own (except for textbooks) are older than I am. And I wouldn't have it any other way. And let it be known that I actually read them. Sure, some of the information is badly outdated, but that just adds to their charm, really. That's one way to keep the past alive!
Good luck finding that new magazine!

Your welcome Did I tell you where I wound up getting my camera?

Very true. I do not read them a lot so I did not think of that Ah ok huh thats interesting. Haha yeah

Very true. Ah ok lol. I get what you mean in this context but I don't get how thats "living in a bird cage" Sorry Like I said I understand you, but I do not get that saying in particular.
Fair enough I enjoy selling stuff online so its fun for me

Yeah! I bought my last two holsters there and Amazon is also where I buy my speed loaders I bought a sling for my rifle too
Yeah! That is so cool you collect old books like that

Thanks! I tested it and it actually isn't 100% reliable on the last round So glad I never had to use it defensively lol.

Hello!

You are right. The Himeji castle and the Kumamoto castle were built at around the same time. So their style is very similar. Maybe I should build the Kumamoto castle in the future!

Thank you very much for your support and thank you for adding my work to your list of favourites! I really appreciate it!

Not much in terms of colors; Himeji has been recently fully renovated, and it's roofs are actually white like most walls, which means we have been looking at roofs full of silt accumulated over time.
Now it really is like a formidable Great White Egret with wings wide open! ^^
Kumamoto in the other hand has quite of an austerous, but extremely relaxing looks, and thus more similar to the even more famous Matsumoto Castle.
I already built all Canon Creative Park castles, the last one being the Matsuyama Castle complex; you should try at least one of these, they take you lots of hours and burn patience like a huge Diesel engine, but the final outcome pays off so much it even makes you eager to build another castle!

Hello!
Thank you very much for your comment!

I have the whole Canon Creative Part collection, but I can't build them right now. I don't have enough space to house a project that big, unfortunately. But they are definitely in my plans for the future. I like buildings and most of my papercraft projects are buildings. It'll be a challenge and a pleasure to be able to build all of the Canon Creative Park's castles in the future. When I have the space and the time, I will!

Thank you for the encouragement!

 Hello!
I read that "Kumamoto Castle is considered one of the three premier castles in Japan, along with Himeji Castle and Matsumoto Castle"
So yes it would be great to have the Kumamoto one as a collection!
Don't even mention the fave

I have plans to build the Kumamoto castle in the future!
But it's too big of a project for me right now. I don't have a place to put a castle like that right now. So I think I will have to wait a little bit before I can build a bigger project!

Aah... but you are supporting me. That's important to me!

If you build it, you should put Kumamon as a scale figure!
He is the mascot of Kumamoto, i believe.
Sure i support you, keep making castles!
