Description "Time and time and time again... always running out on me." - Professor Yana, "Doctor Who".

I have been reminded by a friend (who shall remain unnamed...) that I am way over-due for another adventurous foray into the world of paper-crafting. And for someone who is a big Dr. Who fan, I think the choice was clear. I wanted to do something that was challenging yet recognizably rewarding. And hang the difficulties!

So I present to you a side-by-side comparison of the Timelords' Fob watch. On the right (or viewers' left) is an officially-licensed Dr. Who die-cast replica pocket watch (diameter is about 2" /5 cm). And on the left (or viewers' right) is the paper-crafted replica (diameter is about 3" /7.5 cm.) Now I can travel the distance of space-and-time... not just in style, but always on time! Time and time again!

That's not paper right? RIGHT?

Well... only one of them is made of paper (the larger one). The smaller one is a die-cast model.
So... breath, Marco! Breath!!!

Thanks a million for your support, though. I really appreciate it!
(And sorry to disappoint you if you think the smaller one is made of paper, too! )

Thank you so very much for your very kind words!
I thought I could have done an even better job with the paper version. But thank you so very much for your encouragement. I will try even harder next time around!

Thank you once again!
I hope to be able to keep impressing you in the future!

I'm really impressed you can open and close it! Great job with this watch

are the hands of the watch separated from the rest or just printed? I can't really tell.

Thank you so very much for your very kind words! I really appreciate it.
The hinge part had to be the hardest out of the whole model. But I am really happy I finally got it to work as well!

The hands are actually separate and can be posed to whatever time you wish. Due to a technical difficulty (i.e. Lack of proper equipment), I had to glue them down to the clock face. That means the arms are now stuck on permanently. But it doesn't need to be so.

Hope this helps!

Of course I was just wondering, I like the detail that the hands are seperate from the rest, it adds more reality to the whole thing. Great job

Thank you for your very kind words! I am really glad that you liked the piece. And if you are ever interested, please visit the person who first came up with the model and pay him a visit, too! I am sure he will be thrilled.

You're right! It's hard to find a good commentator who is willing to put in the time to write even just a few words. So I thank you very much for doing so! And yes, please share some love to the original artist who came up with the model. I think he's a brilliant guy!

Woaa so nice, really!
Such a detailed and such a thin paper, and opens and closes
Only one suggestion (or maybe two ), try to use a pencil or paint color, similar to the color print, and paint the edges of the pieces before assembling, so you have a model free from white lines . Pulse may betray trying to paint after assembly .
Good luck in the challenge!

Thank you! Thank you!
I was hoping that you would approve of this build! (And you -did- kind of ask me when my next build would be, right...

I do like your suggestion. In this case, I actually coloured most of the seams in with a black marker (so the seams would loo darker). But because the paper is so thin this time, it's actually harder than it looks! So I will harder and harder next time! I can promise you this. (I can't paint them after completion this time... I was living away from home and away from my usual tools. I hope that when I finally settle down I'll be able to do more!

You're very welcome!
Did I say such a thing?  It wasn't for pressure or something like that

I knew we had a skilled papercrafter among our lines You did a great job with what you had at your fingertips
I've used markers before but color tends to be quite liquid and paper absorbs moisture, so it always ended with a stain on the paper rather than covering only the edge
Well then, ganbatte!

You insinuated something along those lines some time ago... if my memory serves me right. But hey... I didn't take it as a form of pressure. This was just the kind of project that could be done at a reasonable amount of time for what I have! So I consider you more of a "angel on my right shoulder".

You know... you had a lot more confidence in my skills than I do for myself! But without you, I don't think I could have done what I did. So I have you thank for my builds and projects! And hopefully I will make you proud some day. Thanks for the tip on the paints and markers, too! I don't always stay in one place due to work purposes, but I hope that when I get settled, things will take off in leaps and bounds! (And yes... the inside of the watch is pretty much half-black thanks to the marker. But I think it makes the whole project look darker, too. So perhaps it's an unintended bonus...

Thank you! I'll do my best!

But I just said it because I'd not seen another papercraft yours
I rather would be like "the devil on your left shoulder "... I'm left-handed

I'm proud of you already! Not every day I can meet someone talented and with similar tastes to mine .
If I can help you improve, I'll be more than happy to do it

I know what you said! And I took that as a nice reminder. Yeah... that's what we'll call it. A nice reminder...
And if you would rather be the devil on my left shoulder... sure, you're it! The space is  now claimed!

Thank you so much for your kind words!
I keep on saying this whenever I can... without you, I wouldn't be doing papercraft at all. And never-mind this talent business. I didn't know I had any in the first place! Without you... I'd still be cutting paper into itty-bitty pieces.

... it's nice to have people to tell me to get off my lazy *ss, too. My brother does that to me pretty often, too. It'll be nice to recruit more people to tell me to get a move on!
