Description

'The Amulet Of Cernunnos' - oil paint on wood panel. Blessed with ritual magic - Owl feather, Crysocola, and The Book Of Windwomen.

Sometimes, I start working really really hard on one concept. Sketching, conceptualizing, and imagining.. trying to birth it. Trying to get it out. But sometimes it's just NOT coming out. And I get frustrated. And just do a GYAaaaah sketch on another piece of paper just to let out a flurry of lines that have nothing to do with what I'm doing.

And that ended up being this Amulet.

And I thought.. Oh. I'd far rather paint that than what I was trying to come up with. So I did.

This is a tribute to my favorite Lord of the Forest, Cernunnos. A whimsical combination of stone and antler and ivy and light. Inspired, also, by a bit of my novel I've been writing for years: Windwomen.

I understand that feeling. Sometimes spontaneous ideas make better paintings.
This is absolutely beautiful! The background is so subtle but colorful at the same time, and the detail in the foreground is just amazing! How long have you been painting with oil paints?
