I actually picked up a pencil! I needed to get back into sketching so I dusted off my old 3D Illustration sketchbook (virtually untouched from school) and sat down on a bench at the Boise Basque Food Festival and between people watching and life drawing I drew nearly every single Skytown Character from my novel and short stories as well as my friend /Mackenzieβs (officially canon as of book two) characters.ΒRelated content

Looking at this again, I can see the Tracy J. Butler influence.
I find that your balance between cartoony and realistic is on par with hers.

That's sweet, though I think the only similarities we have are the use of sepia tones most of the time. THough he is a great inspiration for backgrounds, poses and expressions

Nah the line there is his chin-patch. Jared has a brown patch of fur on his chin, under his brows and all dark his front, the rest of him is dark charcoal. I just didn't shade it very well

Personally I'm more into havin' less character, but with more three-dimentional personalities.
But, let's see how you'll challenge yourself with dozens of 'em.

Multiple characters can be challenging, but they are not all constantly present, that would be a headache. Half are also from alternate short stories, unused in the first novel, or pre-faces to book two. Just because there are lots of characters does not mean they are flat and static and just there for mass effect.Β
