Description Wanted to draw something, but I only ended up with this doodle.
They look like they are discussing something that is happening outside, I think.

you have a really fantastic style, so simple and casually adorned with just the right amount of intricate detail,  and so full of expression, they ARE looking at something out there!   beautiful!

Thanks, maybe I should have made a contest out of it, whoever comes up with the best story for it wins… something… I don’t know what… another drawing or something perhaps…

I'm sure you will get a lot of good storylines! And a drawing by you would be the best prize!!!!!!!!

I know I don’t have to, I want to, and sometimes I do need a little push, or otherwise I get very lazy.

Oh my gosh well I can only let you do that if you let me do something for you...would you like me to send you prints of my drawings? I would be more than happy to!!!

How about we just make like an art trade, I draw something for you, you draw something for me, and when it’s finished we post it on deviant? It might take a while till I’ll finish so no rush about it?
Would you like something in particular?

linus108Nicole In reply to skillywidden [2011-03-17 02:35:07 +0000 UTC]

Okay I'm down! hmmm well I really LOVE your collage-y style so maybe something like that? Are you familiar with the show LOST? If so, somethig with the island and the dharma symbol would be nice. If not it's cool! I know something Star Trek that I woul like. What would you like me to draw?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

skillywidden In reply to linus108Nicole [2011-03-18 20:30:12 +0000 UTC]

I am horribly sorry, might sound ignorant but I don’t know the show LOST, so going to plan B?
Oh gosh, what would I like? Do you know Lilo & Stitch? I love that cartoon, it’s one of my favorite cartoons ever, and Stitch dressed like Elvis kills me every time, so what do you say about that? If not that, how about Alice in Wonderland?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

linus108Nicole In reply to skillywidden [2011-03-18 22:20:11 +0000 UTC]

Oh I can do both for sure because drawing cartoons take up barely any time. Got the Lilo&Stih one. For Alice In Wonderland do you have something specific in mind?
OMG if you ever get an opportunity at least watch the Pilot for LOST! It's such a good show! All my other drawings are from LOST, especially that one character Ben Linus which I'm sure you've seen one of my drawings of him. lol Ok, I LOVE Star Trek IV: THe Voyage Home. So maybe that? And you can do whatever you want with it (I particularly like Spock in the white robe XDD). Oh and if the collage-y thing would take up too much time it's totally fine!

skillywidden In reply to linus108Nicole [2011-03-18 23:02:34 +0000 UTC]

Gosh! I get 2 drawings? Thank you so much! But are you sure? I don’t want to keep you from doing other stuff.
Whatever you wish from Alice in Wonderland.
I did notice you have drawn a lot of characters from LOST, unfortunately I have very little free time which makes watching TV a rarity for me, but I do promise to watch it the moment I find some time.
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home it is then.
This is a bit embarrassing, can you tell me which of my drawing is in a collage style? My English is not that good and I am unfamiliar with the notion (*blushing deeply*).
I can’t promise a particular style as I don’t truly plan my drawings, and I keep changing everything while still drawing.
P.S.: It might take a few days, but also a few weeks, so I hope you will be patient.

I'm sure! ^^ Ok got it.
Oh haha "collage" isn't the most technical word but i meant something where you have almost an overlapping of characters and pictures like the most recent fairy tale drawing you made. But I want you to draw however the film inspires you, cause that's what makes your drawings good. So yeah whatever.
And I'm the same way as you, so no rush!
Yayyyyyy! ^^

Diana, No buts about it, you did draw something and it's beautiful. You have the talent of the great masters of children's illustration. "Looking Outside" is as wonderful as anything Aubrey Beardsley ever did. Love it! Had to sit back and review your entire gallery. My, my: I see beauty and greatness that reminds me of Kay Nielsen and other renown greats. Fabulous work. Had to put you on watch. Gerry

To be honest, I don't know what to say.
After all the nice things you wrote, comparing my drawings to those of great artists which I admire so much (I am sure that I have a long way to go till I’ll be that good), adding me to your watch, and then the favorites, and not to mention seeing your gallery, which is amazing, I can only feel extremely flattered, thank you.

Diana, Your very welcome. But to be flattered (please, please don't take me the wrong way) means that someone has to flatter, which seems to have come to mean, not quite sincere. Please know I sincerely meant what I wrote and you are a young women of artistic promise. I think Disney saw that in Mary Blair and was so taken by her style and color sense, that he put her on staff and turned her loose to do inspirational works to give a particular artistic flavor to such films as Alice, Peter Pan and specially, Cinderella. She also is the genius behind "It's A Small World After All". If you aren't acquainted with her work, do Google her and you'll see what I mean. Above, I said young women and I only assume you are. Most of the amazing talent I find here on DArt are surprisingly young. It's humbling to me, being as old as I am, to see incredible expertise in so very many who are so very young. Really, when you think about it, we all have a long way to go. And on the way, if we stop trying or improving, then where is the fun and surprise in our own selves. You are good, keep on getting gooder young lady. If you don't first love yourself (and the work you do) then you have nothing to offer that you might expect anyone else to love. If they did, you wouldn't believe it. That said Diana, believe in yourself, young artist of promise. Gerry

To my great shame I never heard of Mary Blair before, but I did as you suggested and googled her. Thank you so much for telling me about this great artist, I absolutely love her drawings!
Also thank you for everything you said, I felt very ashamed after reading it, for I haven’t drawn anything in such a long time, and I think it was just what I needed to start a new drawing.

Why are they looking outside? Did they see something of interest? An army was invading? My personal favorite is that they are locked in a golden cage, having everything but the only thing they truly desire, something found in the outside world.
This is what I like best at this drawing, that it gives me room to imagine so many stories.

Your line work is INCREDIBLE! Their flowy hair and clothes are so gorgeous... not only is your art amazingly well-drawn, but it's also different and unique which makes it even more wonderful!

I think they are spying on some boys passing by...
