Those puppets looks kinda like 'wayang kulit' (a flat, skin-made puppet)... originally from Indonesia, if I not mistaken? If not, forgive me...

The Cave example argument. I can't remember who developed the idea, but it is an important philosophical idea when discussing reality. Was it Socrates? Or Aristotle? Damn it! hmm... I'll have to look that up.
