Someone's in for a surprise.
Thankfully, Tyler won't stay in this form for a long time as it's hard to make her look good.
The Hobbit is there as a nod to the author's idea, where her larval form is described as a "Gollum"-like character. The way Tyler and the symbiote would interact would be similar to Gollum's monologue with himself.
Just one more page before the end of this chapter.

It is good that plot is moving forward fast. I am happy to hear that her design will change soon because in my opinion it is worst symbiote look from all of them. Can't wait to see first discussion of Tyler with her new roommate. Well Alex already knew secret she will probably soon become drone.
Illusion and truth said by side continue to be great idea but I am confused of who is controlling body. Tyler or symbiote(will she get name?). There is also possibility that human is making actions in illusion and alien mimicking them.

The symbiote (I'll reveal her name in the next page) is still learning how the world works, so yes, it's mimicking the actions of the host (with some obvious deviations).

Not yet. This is just their first encounter. "Alex and Maeve" will still happen as is, only much, much later into the story.
Tyler will get her full form by the end of next chapter.

Yes, this is a transitional form. She'll get to her final "Maeve" form by the end of next chapter.
