Another oldie! Yes, severe art block still haunts. This was drawn some time last year. Opened up the psd file again last night and changed a few things, fixing it up, and don't mind the outcome.Yeah...I know I got the size comparison for the orca very wrong. She must be what, 30ft +? Haha. I did try making her smaller, but I actually liked the look of giant orca more. Or, perhaps the mermaid is just mini. Yeah. Think about that.

Oh how I eny the mermaid for swimming with not one but two orcas!
Her tail and the scales of her body is beautiful my dear. The eyes of the left orca is beautiful, so emotive and friendly. Once again I eny the mermaid.
How did you draw the blue shading on the orcas? Any tell of tutorials would be nice.

From the title and a quick look at the thumbnail, this reminded me of Dawn, Taima and her calf together in heaven...either way it's beautiful.
I love the colours of the mermaid, I'm so used to blue and green ones that this is refreshing, and I really like the fin on her back too, almost seems to give her a sense of realism?

Oh, also if you were trying to draw mermaid's head in 3/4 you - you put her eyes too far away from each other.
You should take some photos and look.

Okay, i didn't notice any flaws in orcas, but there is a problem with a mermaid. I mean with her head - which is good itself, so is face (it's pretty), but together they look like if face was glued to the head at the wrong angle... Look carefully and you 'll see what i am talking about.
