Description Well, this is late as all the dickens.   I actually had this drawn on the Anniversary date but it took me this long to actually get it colored due to some problems i was having during the time.  I wasn't honestly sure if i wanted to go any further than the inks i did, but it was thanks to who offered to do the flats layout for me that helped push me to finish.  So, thank you!

I was trying to draw a bit closer to the actual SatAM design, but i feel i missed the mark there and came out with some under-detailed characters. Oh well. SatAM is still a life changing series for me that I adore and will probably always adore.  If it wasnt for SatAM, I wouldn't have gone into a private room on AOL called Knothole and met my husband for the first time. :3

Maybe next years anniversary i can do something better.

...Oh, a few of you may wonder why Dulcy isn't in it.

I... I hate Dulcy. I'm sorry. :C

I also hate Rotor's cosmetic changes in Season 2... yet strangely LOVE Antoines redesign.  Go figure.

Best SatAM Sonic piece of Art on DA! I love the fact you included Nargus on the top left. I know he was only in 1 episode (S2 Ep8) But to me he seemed like a badass villian and the only person to whoop Robotnik's ass like the way he did! XD of course Dr Robotnik trapped him in the void with the King and betrayed him. The episode with Nargus in it was one of my fave episodes of SatAm Sonic. (in my list, the 2 time travel episodes and the final episode)

I'm gonna buy the DVD of the SatAM Sonic episodes soon! i know they have been out for nearly 10 years and thousands of copies have been sold in North America and Europe in that time!

There is a guy who uploaded ALL episodes of SatAM Sonic onto Youtube in almost HD quality ^_^

Coming back to this piece of art...i'm a kid of the 80's & 90's and i grown up with the best cartoons that were ever produced in my time. With today's cartoons...where is the feeling? The good story plots? The expression of characters that were brilliantly thought out? Today's cartoons makes me feel sick to the stomach as there is no feeling, no good story plots and no imagination!  Today's cartoons is just utterly retarded and educating a retarded generation where i feel today's cartoons are reduced to meaningless bulls**t!

Naugus fatal mistake was trusting Robotnik, but i think after that problem is resolved, he would never make the same mistake again. And woe be unto the good doctor when Naugus catches up with him!

I hope you did buy the DVDs! They were just great to have for an old fan. ♥

Also let me fist bump you, for I too, am a child of the 80&90s. We're old. But we got the beeest stufffff. ♥

The dark part is what worries me. You know, he is an accessory to multiple murders, has performed an unknown number of tortures,  and is guilty of at least a billion counts of chattel slavery.

In many ways, SatAM is on par with the "Sonic Adventure" games; they're not perfect and ridden with various problems, but it's the atmosphere, effort, and overall experience that we remember them so fondly for. A bumpy road with some cracks and potholes, but a fun road-trip nonetheless.

Likewise, I would put shows like "Underground" and the OVA movie in the same place as "Sonic Heroes" and "Unleashed"; their problems are more apparent and they have their lovers/haters, but for me, I enjoyed them for what they were. I learned to tolerate their negative aspects and focus on their positives instead.

SkyPirateDash In reply to LogiTeeka [2014-01-14 04:56:05 +0000 UTC]

A fair assessment I believe.  I almost wish they had continue the same style of story telling as they did in Sonic Adventure, primarily because of it's free roaming abilities.  I also really think the game felt the way a 3D sonic game should.  Sonic Adventure 2 unfortunately saw the end of that type of gameplay, then 2006 tried to bring it back with rather...questionable results.  It's a damn shame.

To this day I have tried to play Sonic Heroes but find myself so bored and frustrated at times, and I've only played Team Sonic.  I hear Team Dark or Chaotix can be hair splitting.   I tried Team Rose but quit a few minutes in because of Omo Chao's constant badgering.  I'll have to give it a chance again in the future.

My apologies for taking so long to respond to you as well. :/

"Heroes" is sort of a guilty-pleasure for me. Maybe it's because I played it a lot on the GameCube when I was younger and got used to the slippery controls.

Another guilty-pleasure of mine from that era was "Super Mario Sunshine" (I still don't get why people hate it).

SkyPirateDash In reply to LogiTeeka [2014-01-14 05:19:09 +0000 UTC]

I think for Sunshine people didn't like the added mechanic of the FLUDD device.  I found it annoying myself but the overall atmosphere of the game was something i really loved.  I'm not sure much about Galaxy myself, but that's just because I have problems with looking at awkward angles and such, so those planets can really do a number on me. XD

LogiTeeka In reply to SkyPirateDash [2014-01-14 05:32:09 +0000 UTC]

Understandable. I get motion-sickness while playing it too.

Sadly, the "Galaxy" series were the last Mario games I found interesting. Every game afterwords just felt bland, repetitive, and downright boring; as well as lacking in atmosphere. The levels feel more like obstacle-courses rather than believable environments that fit the world they inhabit.

i greatly enjoyed 3D World myself. But given that nobody wants a Wii-U it's probably not as popular as i feel it should be.  New Super Mario Bros was a bit annoying to me, but somewhat fun when you got a cooperative partner.

I'm glad I could be of help :3 and yeah, I did think it was a little odd Dulcy was missing, but admittedly her main real use was transportation and some comic relief. She probably would've looked ok zipping along the sky between the heroes and villains, probably looking up in fear of Robotnik or something.

I also noticed you opted not to use the dark blues we usually see with Robotropolis and made it a little more like Scrap Brain Zone, not like it's a bad change or anything, reds in hindsight were under-used in the show XP

SatAM still remains close to my heart as well, one of my first "dark" series I grew to like as a kid and introducing me to a female lead who can be more than just a damsel in distress... At least the comics carried the mantle for a good while to give me my fix after that cliffhanger to a season 3 we never got. It was also the first show I watched I actually rooted for the good guys since Robotnik wasn't trying to take over the world, he already had from the start.
Also funny in hindsight it was yet another cartoon show during the 90's that was anti-pollution and pro-green, but was surprisingly subtle about it unlike Captain Planet.

Good times... at least there's the DVD collection (that also has your art, congrats on that btw :3) and Netflix to look back and rewatch occasionally on Saturday mornings and re-experience my childhood.

SkyPirateDash In reply to SorcererLance [2013-11-06 23:59:58 +0000 UTC]

I guess for me Dulcy was always ever just transportation.  I enjoyed her when she was more serious and less light hearted.  Which in retrospect is goes against her characters embodiment..so i dont know.  I think ABC asked for her because they were on some kick to try and lighten the story.  Like those Antoine episodes the cast was forced to make to make sure their lives didn't entirely revolve around fighting Robotnik...which it did.  Too serious for kids i guess. :/

i'm absolutely horrible with background concept and coloring, something i definitely need to look into in the future.  It did give me a kind of Scrap Brain type of vibe too! XD

I believe the Nostalgia Critic did an excellent job reviewing SatAM and it's greenpeace messages that slipped in without being so over the top. I swear, the writers may not have been the best thing in the world, but they did an amazing job at the time and i think satAM can still stand up to some stories today.

I was hoping to buy a second DVD set to just keep sealed myself but i never got around to it and now they're crazy expensive to get a hold of.  Ah well!

Thanks again so much for the assist too, i really do feel if you hadnt it probably wouldn't have gotten done.
