WARNING: THIS EXPLANATION IS LONG. SO. LONG.

Trolls are in Humanstuck forms, in case there's anyone wondering.
So the world that all the characters are in is actually widely influenced by Lord
English, although they don't know it. They kind of know he exists, but not everyone
really believes it? He's essentially 'God', but they don't know he's actually the
God they've been worshipping. Jesus was basically another form of Doc Scratch, and
when he died, is when Lord English came more into power.
So when the AU begins, only 2 people know about him and that he's actually very
evil. Karkat and Feferi. They're the only ones in any position to stop him, but
only because of their knowledge of him. They try, and slowly get their friends to
start believing in them, so that they can stop him.
LE's influence on them depends on where they were in the blood caste when they were
trolls. Basically, Aradia is the most easily influenced, and Feferi is the least-
likely to be influenced. The only exeptions to this rule are Gamzee and Karkat.
Karkat can not be influenced at ALL, because his DNA is weird, and can be
considered mutant-ish. Gamzee is very easily influenced, because of the drugs he
takes. At one point he's able to be influenced enough that he snaps, and attacks
his friends.
How, here's where I explain where all the kids come in. They're all basically
servants of Lord English, and sent down to Earth to pave the way for his arrival.
Their role is kind of similar to the Felt, in a way. Jake is Lord English's right-
leg man (haha, get it? because he doesn't have a right leg. okay i'll shut up now),
and is the kid LE trusts the most. Jane is a close second to that, she's mostly
like Jake's servant in this. The kids are actually VERY good at concealing their
relation to LE, and so the good guys (Karkat & friends) don't find out their
purpose until later in the story. Big fight scenes most likely and blah blah blah.
