My art class is so cute! the whole ceiling is covered in these tiles that, are for the most part empty. But when you are a senior you get to pick one of the blank ones to paint with your own origional artwork and put up for everybody to see! well after four years of waiting and wondering what my tile was going to be, I finally finished! I'm pretty pleased with it. This was an idea that popped into my head after weeks of thinking I was going to do something totally different...this is better... Anyway it's a mixed media piece. acrylic's, prisma colored pencil, and prisma color markers. Along with my beautiful silvery metalic splatter paint.

This is beautiful. I'm a sucker for hair that has depth without lines (you artsy folk know what I mean, yes?) The concept of the painted ceiling tiles is also quite wonderful! I've seen a few painted tiles (or stools) around, but never an entire classroom full.

I love that we had a classroom full of painted tiles. It made the room feel really fun and creative. And thanks so much for the compliment! I originally painted this with the hair in mind, the rest sort of fell in place after that.

Wow. We did the same thing when I was in high school. But then they demolished the art wing during renovations. No one else got to see my tile, so I took it down and it currently sits in my mom's house.
Your's is much better than mine though.

Yes. The school was built during the New Deal. The renovated it, but technically just demolished everything except the main face of the school.
And no, I have no pictures of it.

Wow, the 'New Deal'? that is quite a long time to have a school hanging around. But then again my school is probably just as old...

It was a ton of fun. I wish that I could upload the whole ceiling becaue it's just amazing to look at but I fogot to take a photo.
