Description
This is Dauphine. One day while walking through the snowcapped mountains in her small village she saw something glint, all silvery and cool, from the rocks. It's brightness was even more intense than the snow. So, inspired by curiosity, she climbed up to the edge of the cliff and peered into a wall of frozen water. She saw her face, cocked to the side, staring at her. All of a sudden her reflection turned inky black and separated like a thousand ants scurrying across the sand. The inky black spots formed words.

Dauphine was mesmerized. Everyday she would climb the mountain again to read from the frozen wall of water. Later she would write these stories down, for they were like none she had ever heard. Dauphine's frequent trips to the mountain top were causing suspition. So, one day, Dauphine decided to carry some of the wall back with her. She climbed up to her secret spot and raised a chisel steadily to it's surface. With one swift snap the wall exploded into a thousand tiny pieces. Dauphine screamed as some of the shards penetrated her eyes.

She stumbled down the mountain, quite blind. Yet, over many months Dauphine's eyesight returned to her. In a sense. Whenever she gazes upon an object for too long she will only ever be able to see the words that she so longed to take back with her.

I felt very wordy with this piece. So I thought up a story to share with you if you'd care to read it.
