I don't think the game says how the plan time-line worked, but in this AU PK made the pacts with the Dreamers first while still looking for the perfect vessel

Most times yeah, but bugs up close at least for me lose its gross factor, but I imagine many people wouldn't like Deepnest even more if was full of realistic spiders

Oh, I always though she was younger than Pure/Hollow but older than Lost, Ghost, "Flower " (or as I call them, "Moth"), and so on (I'm actually writing an AU about them all where Pure is the oldest, then cames Hornet and the others, so I always considered it in that way xD), but actually Vessels are all "twins", so... probably she is OR older than everyone or YOUNGER, but it's strange to think that she's younger than Ghost! xD
I like this idea! Are you going to follow this in your AU? (I really love your au!)

My reason why I think she is older is more because I think it took some time to find the "perfect" vessel, so PK made Hornet first and after some years Hollow was born.
More like the king made a checklist and tried to make the easiest stuff out first
But I agree is kinda hard to see the small vessels as her older siblings.
In the AU Hornet is already born she is just a bit older, I don't know if she is going to show up it already has many characters, but if she shows up you know that videos of cats being surrounded by puppies?
This is what will happen.
I'm still thinking about making a mini-stories fic to go with it, so have more vessel action without me trying to focus on the story, I have some scenes planned but still waiting for a thing to happen first before starting it

1. In the cannon her only motivation to agree with PK plans was to get an heir because her husband died before he could.

No, Herrah was one of the Dreamers she was needed to contain the Radiance, just like the other two, like the Hollow Knight was one lock and the Dreamers were three extra locks more harder do break, as you can see in the game, fighting Hollow is quite easy because well they were super badly injured already, each dreamer you needed to pass a hard place and two had bosses protecting them and the user would need the Dream Nail to really kill them, something that only the moths had and them being a pacifist tribe would be hard for them go to the "easiest" dreamer that was Herrah, and Deepnest don't seen this easy to just walk to.
4. Again this image is for my AU, but Hornet existing before or after Hollow doesn't affect anything on the lore, my take of why I think she is older is that she knows about the other vessels being her siblings and knew about the Abyss, and I kind doubt PK would disclose this info to a newborn baby.

Mhh, yes, I understand what do you mean, but I actually noticed something interesting: Hornet is born from the Pale King and Herrah, who agreed with the PK to become a Dreamer in exchange for a child.
BUT, I thought: the Dreamers were probably called AFTER the birth and the growth of the Hollow Knight, I think, probably almost when Pure was going to seal the Radiance away.
The Pale King would be like "okay, I did everything, now the Hollow Knight is going to seal the infection away and everything. NOW I need some extra protection for them." *the Pale King pick up the shell-phone* "Hello Herrah, do you want to make a bargain?" xD
This is why I still think Hornet (in the canonical story) is probaly younger than the HK. But can we really consider Ghost, for example, elder than her? Probably just for their age, but not for their "growth"; the HK is the only Vessel that we know fully growth...
But I can actually destroy my own theory if I assume that the Pale King PREDICTED everything: if he actually did so, probably he could have done what you said, for first the easier things and then the Vessels.
However, I can't wait to see whatever you'll write about the AU! (I also created an account on AO3, so now I can comment there, too!)

Hmm... I understand what you mean like I don't really believe the king was this amazing more because how real life kings did the said the same bull about themselves but I think he worked first with the Dreamers, because his perfect vessel was taking some time to be made, like he had contact with Monomon to create the vessels.
To be completely sincere I don't really understand the king's plan at all like if you want something without any mind wasn't more intelligent to seal Radiance on an urn? Or some other random item? Like I understand having to fight her, but he could make Hollow fight her and them seal her inside an urn and then let them inside the Black Egg as a protector. I still don't understand the logic like if it is because it needed to dream wasn't already showing it needs a mind to dream? So your plan is going to fail anyway?
Another thing that I question a lot is that Hollow was sealed for at least 300 years and Ghost came back when the Radiance cracked Hollow, but the kingdom shows that it was already fallen for a long time, so it couldn't be the Radiance doing or the infection, so did the kingdom fallen for what? Like did the plan backfired so badly the second Radiance was sealed? Or was this the Void doing? Now that they are finally free after so long and without Radiance to seal them again it could destroy everything?
I have a theory that Ghost died when they fell to the abyss, and what we're controlling is the Void using this vessel body to do their things, like no other vessel can be alive and have their shade floating around, the ones that are shade are already death and the other vessels just died when are defeated, so it always made me think that Ghost is more than a normal vessel, and the ending of the Godmaster kinda makes more sense to me is that the Void finally became hole after defeating their worse enemy. But don't listen to my crazy theories :V

I can't understand his plans, too! I mean, probably this was the only idea he had and probably he had not much time to try something different?
In the AU I'm writing, the PK create void children (the first was Pure) to PROTECT THEM from the Radiance, but they were not totally hollow: the Void just surronds their souls to prevent the Radiance to break in. But this is something totally different and I don't think it can work for the canon!
About the canon, I used to think that "no mind to think" meant = vessels are totally dumb, just puppets, without any type of idea. But now that I'm writing something from Pure's point of view, I think it's probably something a bit different, that isn't easy to explain.
Ghost can make decisions, the Pure Vessels seems trying to stop themself (in the cut dialogues) about "thinking"... and if the King needed something "stupid", he could have used animals (that are not stupid, but probably can't think like persons do), or robots. So I think the PK needed some intelligent creature, almost intelligent to fight and became the best knight of all Hallownest (or something like that), but probably they needed to be unable to have thoughts that could be corrupted by the Radiance... it's hard to imagine, and very hard to explain what I have in mind in this moment!
About the hopes, I have a similar idea. No dreams that could distract the vessels (and here I remember an important thing that Zote says in his 57 strange ideas, about "have a dream is not a good thing because it distract you") from what they need to do. (EXTRA: DUMB THEORY, is Zote a vessel without mind but with voice, AND DUE FOR THIS HE SAYS JUST STUPID THINGS? XD He often talks about the father and the sibling... I cannot accept him as a vessel, tough! D
Another question: do the vessels feel "feelings?" I think YES, because it's the only thing that remains if the PK removed "the mind", "the will", "the hopes" of these little adorable creatures!
But it's impossible to sense it from the outside, as the Queen says. And they can't actually show feelings, due the fact they cannot cry or talk or everything!
AND ABOUT HOW THE KINGDOM FELL...! This is really a good question!
I have two main ideas:
1) The Hollow Knight broke in THE PAST (like, 100 years after they were sealed, or something like that), then the Kingdom disappeared due to the infection and Ghost arrives in the "modern days" of Hallownest OR the infection was too diffused to be stopped when the King imposes the HK to sealed themself and actually the infection slowed down but not disappeared
2) Nothing is everlasting, and the Kingdom was weakened from the infection and everything, and the Pale King couldn't stop the fall of Hallownest. Maybe a lots of causes, like in the real life.
But we could create like more than 100 theories about that!
About Ghost that is a puppet of the Void... it's really interesting and very creepy!
I have a theory about Ghost, too, but it's very different: they're actually hollow when you start to play HK, but YOU suddently BECAMES WHO GHOST IS - I mean, playing, the player fills Ghost, changing them into a "thinking, hoping, and willing" creature. This is how I felt playing this amazing game: I was totally "in tune with" them! I felt like I WAS Ghost, or really close to them.

Pale King after 1 week without sleeping drinking 2 liters of coffee "Oh shit I had a great idea, BABY!" write down and collapse on the floor, and this is how the vessel idea was born and nobody could say it was the worse plan they ever heard because he was the king :V
Hey this is the fun of making AUs, you can make anything still waiting for someone to make a transformers crossover, once I even made a surfer AU, but let it in the backburner because I want to focus on the kids AU and make something with my OCs too.
My problem is that I still can't grasp why the plan needed a living creature when in the game have robots that can be dream nailed so they have some sort of mind, and why the use of void was necessary when kingsmoulds and the collector exist and both show emotions. So even a pure creature of void has a mind so for me the logic of putting living being + void don't makes much sense. Or maybe he knew this was bull and wanted a creature with a strong mind and what is stronger than a creature born from two gods and void, but do not think much about the situation he pretended that Hollow was well hollow.
For more that I like Zote, I don't think he is a vessel, he looks to much like Elder Bug + that creepy giant statues from the hot springs, so I think he is from one of a common race from that place, maybe he like stole a diaries from other adventurers, knowing how he tends to steal everything to himself he stole some backstory from others, I like to imagine that he still have living parents and the reason why he started his adventure was because they told him to take the trash out xDD so he took himself out :V
But I find strange how similar he is from the vessels, what makes me think that the king is from a similar species of him I really don't believe the king was a Wyrm or even started out as a god but I believe he gained this status with time like I don't think they are the same, but a variant of the same species.
I still theorize that is just bull that the king told himself to not feel bad, discarding a pile of toys is much less heavy than discarding living beings, for me vessels can have minds, will and hopes, but they were never socialized normally so they are strangers to the normal customs, the only vessel him and the queen saw was Hollow, and I suspect that this one is much smarter than the others they saw what the king dislike and pretend they are "perfect" for years just to survive. But this is just how I see them.
I think the second one is more plausible but is more because I like to think that Hallownest couldn't really function without the help of others kingdoms or places around it, and thanks to everything being sealed and the fauna/flora becoming extremely hostile and without anything to try to control the others kinda abandoned it to rot.
I have this theory because the crystals of Crystal Peak are seen to be mined a lot, but in the kingdom they aren't seen at all, at least I don't remember seeing anything with the crystals, and for me this is more that they are so common in Hallownest they don't have any value inside it, but to others places it most been super rare, like I find strange that the only place that is working now stop is the mines, like why care about these crystals with your kingdom going down? The most be important for something.
And it's a nice theory too, much less creepy xDD

I think the only thing that can explain his choise was: he needed an intelligent, powerful creature and robots were too weak, and creating children with the Root, he actually created "little gods", so... BUT IT IS STILL THE WORST IDEA HE COULD HAVE HAD! Poor little vessels, poor Hollow Knight!
Okay your interpretation of Zote about his life and the trash thing is now CANON. It's just P E R F E C T X'D

Yes the vessels deserve better, this is why in the surfer AU Shade Lord is the one that takes care of the kids with White Lady, Pale King is in prison because he sold white substances :V
