Description I wanted to practice my traditional skills a bit, given that I haven't tried it in... oh, about 6 years! The inspiration/reference photo for this comes from Sktchy.

Drawn using a 0.5mm mechanical pencil and a blending stick on some 8 or so year old paper.

Thanks so much! I was glad she turned out looking even vaguely human, given how long it had been since I tried to sketch with graphite

LiveArtBreatheArt In reply to slshimerdla [2015-09-12 01:13:45 +0000 UTC]

Yeah the graphite tends to be a lot different then the digital, I can do digital a lot better then graphite but my digitals are child's play compared to yours.

It really is different, yep! Completely different techniques, really. And my photography is child's play compared to yours. Looking forward to more stuff from you! Thanks!

I'm also looking forward to more of you're art.

I'd also like to thank you and you're husband, him for serving and risking his life for us and you because behind every good man is a good woman.

Me too

My grandpa served but he never talks about it and I have no idea what war he was in.
My uncle was a marine, my step dad was navy and my two really good friends are both army national guard.
I come really close to going into the army national guard right out of high school, passed the physical with flying colors but could not pass the asvab? I can't remember how to spell that.

He wouldn't even talk about which war he was in? Yeesh, that must've been bad! ASVAB works for me, I'm not sure what it is exactly either - but I do know what you're talking about!

So you've got a lot of military family/friends - I wasn't even really exposed to it much in the portion of FL where I grew up (no military bases around), and it was a bit of a shock (but a fun one, mostly!) when I married into it and realized how much I'd be moving!

It's been a good experience, though

Nope, he wont. I'm assuming so yes.
He did share that he had wiped his butt with a poison ivy leaf in the woods during the middle of a war once and it made for a very uncomfortable rest of the war.

Yes a ton and that was not even naming everyone. I'm proud of the them all and scared for the ones that are still in the army but I know they are proud and want to be there, all we can do is support them and be grateful that they are still alive.
It's been so long and they keep re enrolling, even with having wives and children.
But as you know, you sign up in the army as soon as you marry a soldier. I am not of course, but I can only imagine.
You are a strong woman for doing all of this too! Do you guy's have children?

I don't know much about army wives, but what you have mentioned sounds similar to the tv series army wives, which I love that tv series and I want them to come out with more!

I'm sure it has been.

No kids yet, nope. Been trying for years, but no dice. We will probably adopt, and it's actually pretty decent timing since he's only got a few more years left till he gets his military retirement (that's one of the biggest pluses about military, is how early you can retire and still get income from them!) So the kids won't have to grow up moving all the time, which'll be nice.

I'm sorry to hear that, but you never know.. just might happen when you are least expecting?

But the adoption thing is such a good way to go, so many children without homes and it's wonderful that their are people willing to adopt.

Yes that would be great, it can be hard on kids.

People say it happens to them a lot when they stop trying, and I suppose anything is possible. Not terribly likely in our case, but who knows.

Yeah I hear that too, but either way.. natural or the good old adoption.
