Wow, have you used an AF-D or an AF-S 50mm f/1.8?
If it's an AF-D, you have incredible skills with manual focus.. Otherwise it's still amazing!

AF-S, AF-D lenses aren't compatible with my camera, at least the AF-D version of this one wasn't, but thank you so much

I actually have a Nikon D5100 with a Nikkor AF-D 50mm f/1.8 so it is compatible.. Just, you can't use autofocus!

Oh, well, an AF-S is soooo much more comfortable to use! Especially if it is a f/1.8! XD
Pity, I'm stingy so I bought the other one without autofocus..

Like a lot of other people, I really enjoy the color and bokeh look to the background. I especially like how the plants and trees in it - especially the yellow green ones at the bottom - have a softer, brushed away tone to them. It brings a nice touch to the background and allows the little girl to be brought out more.
Her purple top and hat are really awesome and I like how her hair scatters around her face. The lighting on her is also very, very nice. It may be a little light but I think it works better for the shot.
The expression on her face is adorable too - I can just imagine the high-pitched shrill that would be coming out of it XD
All in all, definitely a wonderful shot!!
