Shifting this over here as well...
This drawing is a favorite of mine, as is the artist.
Yes, it's not technically perfect (I say this because I can almost hear you protesting the same thing, not because it matters). Nor is it the your objectively best work (yes! It gets better!). But it's one hell of a moment, and you've captured it here so well.
I'd love to see this in color. Polished up. All of the things. But even then, I feel, the line drawn version would stay a favorite.
Capturing something beautiful and intense in simple lines has a special power to it.

I love Jarlaxle's earrings. And the way that his eyelashes and eyebrows contrast with his skin... so good. And just, these two, I love them, we all love them, just, yes, thank you. Just all of the hair that you drew in this piece looks so nice.

I'm so happy I follow you, there aren't many active dA artists who still frequently draw RA Salvatore characters, especially Artemis (Who remains my favorite across the books). How do you figure out poses and anatomy? Do you have references you use or you just know it well enough now you don't really have to check? Great work, keep it up!
And I agree with you on the kissing thing. If you don't have to tag boy/girl kissing, you shouldn't have to tag any other kind of kissing.

First, I draw a skeleton of the pose that I want, then I fill it in as much as I know, next I look at references to make sure that the anatomy is correct, and finally more references for other things (like cloth, hair, etc). I don't really finish any of my drawings, but if I did I'd spend more time looking at references for different lighting, relative colors and stuff like that.
I've studied anatomy for a long time, but there are those who've studied longer than I have, and all of them say that using references is really important. I don't think that I've met any artist that has stopped using references, so for those that are better than me to still use them means that I'd be lazy not to. XD We aren't born knowing how to draw anatomy, so it's both natural and good practice to study references. The more you practice, the better you know it, but what's said a lot is that it's impossible for someone to know anatomy *perfectly*, because there are so many different body types.
