I think the same things about my stuff, don't fret, maybe the right people just haven't seen it yet
Insant accolades for work is not always forthcoming; you did good don't sweat it.

Critique-
The yellow is maybe a touch overpowering for the red of the beetle, my eyes want the highlights a little darker to bring out contrast and definition. But the subject and pose are great, the face is nicely in focus and striking at the viewer with a wonderful expression (like you popped up and caught her off gaurd with a snap shot while she was minding her own business). Nicely done.

Your work is always good and quite frequently very great
