That's absolutely gorgeous, it reminds me of William Waterhouse's work for some reason.

I believe Chibicatt means to ask what pose reference you used for this picture? She feels it is similar to one she used for a picture of her own, and is curious whether or not you used the same reference.

Unless she used a picture of me, it's not the same reference. I am the model for this picture. (It's possible she did use the same picture, though, as I did have it on my website for a while.)

This is amazing in its scariness. The facial expression just sends shivers down my back.

This is so.. incredibly gorgeous! I can't even express how much I'm in love with this piece! The colors are just so freaking appealing to me... And her position... and the way her hair is so stringy and alive with the ribbons of her shirt.. This is just.. arr... ::drools::

I have been holding back on commenting until I was able to study the story of I Puritani. Yes it seems that the story with Elvira recovering from here madness suddenly and swiftly is too contrived, but maybe in the era it was written a happy ending was needed. I agree with you in that it seems too Disneyfied with a happy ending. If you want terrible tragic endings, Shakespeare's Hamlet is one, but his play Titus has been acknowledged as his bloodest and most tragic over and above what is in Hamlet.
Enough rambling the art piece, the piece is fantastic. The browns and sepias are meant to convey a sense of her madness. Her world is not vibrant or bright or bold it is tinged with sadness, grief, and denial of reality. She holds the tiny skeleton as if it is a token from her lover. Hmmm, might it have been better if this would have been wrapped around her ring finger, thus conveying an image that she is marrying/betrothed to death. Her eyes are closed as a symbolic gesture that she is blind to reality. She closes her eyes and pretends that she is getting married to her love...the smile upon her lips tells she is creating this fantasy in her head.
You did an incredible job on this art piece.

Interesting blend of colors. I particularly enjoy your attention to detail. The anatomy is wonderful, with the exception of the chin looking slightly off. The foreshortening of the fingers and arms are incredible, and very hard to pull off realisitcally. The amount of detail in the background astounds me, that's an area too many people neglect. The dress looks a little bit 'flat' in places, but not unrealistically.
All in all, this is a great piece, by a great artist. Keep up the good work

Although I feel that there is a lack of shadow around where the hair meets the skin I do feel that this is a wonder peice of artwork.

I wouldn't say I COPIED a photo, but I used reference for the face and (well, sort of) for the pose:
[link]
...don't laugh at my shirt or the weird expression on my face!
I should have used some for the hands...the joints are kind of weird on some fingers.
