This is really beautiful. I can hardly understand why there are no comments yet. I like the composition you choose, the fact that you did not catch the whole flower in your photo, it makes looking at this much more interesting. Then there is the play between focus and blurred background, it's very well executed especially with the flower petals being just slightly blurred while the blur of the background is even stronger.
All in all a very well executed photo.

First of all, thank you for the appreciation and the critique eye. This was the whole idea of the picture. Capturing a nice bokeh effect in the background, keeping a very soft out of focus on the petals, I like the finesse that petals offer while out of focus, while offering the "jewel" in the middle to the viewer.
Regarding your concern... I feel that deviantart is not the nice and great place to show your art anymore, as it once was. A lot of rubbish pictures or digital art ones get so much credit they don't deserve, when the better ones don't get any attention at all. And here I'm not referring to my pictures. I'm just a hobbyist who loves taking pictures in order to bring the beauty of the world to others. But I sow hundreds of great pictures, of random people that barely got any favorites when they deserved a lot more.
At the beginning I thought it's my fault that my profile got low attention over it, I got lazy, stopped taking pictures for a while. Now I started again after I bought a new camera and found again that joy. But after a few photos uploaded here and 0 appreciations, I said that maybe it's because I don't have a subscription anymore. You always got more attention when you bought a subscription. Well I bought one, and I don't feel any improvement so far. So, I think that lately deviantart is not the best place to show your art anymore, sadly...

Sorry for the rather late reply, but I've been busy these weeks and had no time to sit down to answer all my mails and stuff.
About your reply, first of all of course you're welcome.
Now, concerning your opinion about deviantart, I agree with you, I have to say. While I am of the opinion that art always is in the eye of the beholder, I also feel that when it comes to photos I get the feeling as if a lot of photos are more like holiday pictures, but nothing taken with consideration and intention of art. For that reason I'm glad I'm in some groups here because I have to say the photos I find there are better than the stuff I find at the opening pages. It's still sad though, that good artwork receives comments less and less, when they deserve so much more.
Well I'll continue to leave comments as much as possible, even though right now I'm way behind commenting because life had kept me so busy.
