Good things are good things regardless of their target audience. Anyone who gives "It's kids stuff" or "I'm too old" as their only excuse for why they don't like something is as immature as a guy constantly boasting about how "manly" he is or a girl who thinks that she has to discard every aspect of femininity to be strong (reference the amazing Silver Quill who has done several analysis videos on how femininity and strength not only can go hand in hand but should as an overly masculine female can be just as insulting and harmful as an overly feminine female; he even praises how Rarity as a character is portrayed as she is extremely traditionally female but can and will stand up for herself and others, physically if need be). I can respect most reasons that are actual reasons but claiming you dislike solely because you're outside of the target audience gets no respect from me.

Agree 100%!! As for being overly masculine or feminine, I've always hated stereotypes and think people should just be true to themselves. Don't put on an act for anyone else and like what you like regardless of labels. Boys can like both ninja turtles and my little pony, girls can like barbie and batman. Who says certain shows/toys are exclusive to one gender? Boys shouldn't be afraid to play with toys deemed "for girls" if that's what they like. Just let kids be kids. Why do we even have a "pink aisle" and a "blue aisle"...or link certain colors to genders. Pink is historically a "masculine" color anyway, not that it matters. Personally I think society needs to stop genderizing everything so much. Same goes for judging stuff based on the target age group. I hate the stereotype that "cartoons are for kids" unless it's an "adult cartoon" like Family Guy. No, animation is a beautiful form of art that can and should be enjoyed by everyone. Ooh well, I ranted. Sorry! XD

It's fine. I quite agree. My family had a summer where one of my aunts made butterfly wings for the 4 oldest cousins, female me, 2 girls and a boy, and all were delighted with their gift. Admittedly, the boy then proceeded to pretend to be a butterfly-eating monster but I think that had more to do with him wanting to chase us girls than caring about being boyish. I have less of a problem with things being targeted at a group, since that's the creator's choice, and more a problem with "That's for X and you're Y so you can't like it." And some things that are "for girls" are dumb; like Littlest Pet Shop toys. What's so girly about bobbleheads, even if some of them are pink? I was always encouraged to do what I loved though when I was younger, I did have limits. Those however were more along the lines of "This show is too violent; I don't think you should watch it." or "This is a rip off of Pokemon; I don't want you watching it." (true story on both accounts; my mom thought Power Rangers was too violent and Digimon was a Pokemon rip off) than anything else and once I reached my teens, my parents trusted my judgment even if they didn't understand my tastes.

I hadn't even heard about the fourth book yet, that is an intriguing title! Hopefully the wait won't be as long this time. XD Well we do have Daisy (westie/jack russell mix) and Sunshine (maltese) so there are some small dogs but I'd LOVE to see a chihuahua.
