1. That's so funny! What expressions! Kit's also probably wondering where the hell the captain pockets that mirror all day. He better not look too annoyed or Karny might decided to enjoy the view alone, with a shove of his elbow. Terrific scene!
2. Alas, poor Kit, we hardly knew ye. It's perfect! And I'm once again thrilled to see an illustration based off a story. I also noticed in the other pics, as a detail you do --- and forgive me for how odd this might sound --- ear momentum really well. Like in the sketches from the other day, when Karny is hanging from the rope ladder, and the one where he's angrily going nose to nose with Kit. It such a small detail but enhances the sensation of movement and gravity.
3. This one kicks in the feels, for both characters. It reminds me of the instance from the first part of P&L, where Baloo asked Kit, "This tough-guy routine work on all yer friends?" And that crushed look that suddenly bears down on Kit, as if he has just now realized the finality of going splitsville with Karnage, having truly now not a friends in the world: "I... don't have any friends." The latest fic project I was working on was a backstory to P&L (like, the lengths Karny goes through to steal the stone and the events that made Kit turn on him), but one reason it stalled is that it's kind of depressing to think about. I always thought Karny would initially miss having the boy around in his quiet, contemplative moments and be stung by his betrayal (like as I see this pic), but he's a survivor with an abundance of self-confidence and was able to move on from whatever fondness he had for his protege. The red scarf just seems to have an element of destiny to it, doesn't it? Kit flung it off several thousand feet in mid-air during a freefall, and it somehow got back to Karnage. That's like some Lord of the Rings stuff, the scarf has a will of its own, to be reunited with his rightful protege!
4. And speaking of the red scarf and destiny! I could totally see this as a reaction watching the crew's antics (a roach race run amok?) I also thought of them like they're inside the large cargo hold of a plane they just caught and are really not impressed at what they see. "Sigh. Fish bowls? Again?" I very much like your take on older Kit! Perhaps oddly enough, I never pictured him older without pants (like the gray, rolled-up-at-the-ankle cargo pants he had in per-production images).
