So background story:

It's been 3 years since Hokuto Aida and his sister, Seiki, have awoken from their comas and returned from their adventures in Elrios as Soul and Spirit. Having spent what feels like 3-4 years in Elrios (though only a little over a year has passed in Earth time), it takes them a little bit for the twins to re-adjust to their former lives. Now Hokuto has finally completed rehab, caught up in schooling, and is getting ready to set out to college. But life takes an unexpected twist and Hokuto finds himself back in Elrios.

But it's not the Elrios he remembers.

Thousands of years have passed and Elrios has become a modern, high-tech society known as Neo-Elrios. What's more, Hokuto, who once again has taken up the name of Soul, has found the presence of his physical body is prohibiting him from using his old powers and Dream Energy. As he tries to figure out what has happened, he inadvertently saves a young girl from monsters that apparently most people can't see. The girl, named Zini, thanks Soul and takes him to meet her family. As it turns out, Zini is the Star Spirit and as a way to express their gratitude, and also as a means to help him fight off the invisible aliens that are attacking Neo-Elrios, the stars bestow upon Soul the title "North Star", which comes along with the ability to use Star Energy (similar to Soul's previous Dream Energy) and two Star Blades. Zini takes on the form of a small glowing spirit to accompany Soul in his journeys as he sets off to fight the aliens and once again find a way home.

But the surprises don't end there. Soul learns about ABC, which is an organization of people who can see and fight aliens. There he meets Keane, but she doesn't seem to remember Soul at all. After they learn to use a device called ACCESS through sparring (in which Soul is surprised to win fairly quickly), Soul finally learns that Keane is not the Keane he remembers. In fact, everyone he thinks he knows are not the same people he thinks they are. Most of the people in ABC are re-incarnations of the old El Heroes that Soul knew. Some have memories of their former lives, but many, like Keane, do not.

Because Soul is one of the original El Heroes (and not a re-incarnation), ABC frequently calls him "ancient". Soul isn't too keen on the label and corrects them each time that he is not ancient, seeing as he is only 19.

North Star Class Notes:
North Star Soul (NS Soul), like Dream Spirit Soul (DS Soul) is a melee fighter that specializes in quick and multi-hit magic attacks (due to the fact that his Star Blades are made of magic). He is also talented in granting buffs on allies and debuffs on enemies.

Like DS Soul, NS Soul has a separate energy source aside from MP. Called Star Energy, this energy powers up his Star Blades. SE does slowly regenerate itself but is also gathered or spent depending on the type of attacks and combos Soul uses. Some attacks can only be used if Soul has a certain amount of SE. If SE is empty, Soul has to rely on attacks that do no use the Star Blades until SE is built back up. Luckily Soul started to study martial arts after returning to Japan, so he can put up a decent fight even without Star Blades.

NS Soul is accompanied by the Star Spirit, Zini. She can assist Soul in battle, mostly by granting buffs much like Spirit did for DS Soul when she was in Ghost Fire form.

NS Soul has his physical body and is also 3 years older, so even those who remember Soul may not recognize him at first. Some major differences (besides just being older) is the NS Soul has black hair with a blonde stripe in his hair and black eyes. He has also grown out his hair (much to Spirit's dislike) and pulls it up in a pony tail.
