Description Hi everyone! Here's yet another macro abstract photo from Pellinge (an islet outside Porvoo in Finland) taken yesterday afternoon. I found this strange looking iceformation under a rock in the sunshine and decided to take some snaps of it. The tip of this ice formation is about 1cm wide so I had to get really close. Blue tone added in PS.

Hope you like it. Comments and critiques are welcomed.

ok ok... look... the most left tip that is the highest are the eyes.
Now go a bit right, now rotate the picture a little bit to the right, and image the right triangular shape as the legs of the frog... And there you have it... a frog!

Very cool! I like the blur at the bottom and the ice... looks like something...... some kind of.... um.... maybe a finger pointing or a turtle head made from ice.

Awesome shot! I think it'd look great as a square shot, too.

Beautiful, sharp image. Nice one, as always...

Can I ask - what lens are you using for these macros and are you hand-holding or using a tripod? It is so crisp and clear and sharp, which is why I am curious. Also, as you say, the tip was just 1cm across, so you had to be really close and be able to focus. Thank you!

Thanks.

I use the Canon 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro lens in all my macro work.. this is actuallly taken handheld, as I was not able to get the tripod that low.. I use the tripod every chance I get.. but sometimes I have to make sacrifises by increasing the ISO to get a handheld shot. :/
