Description
Came up with a little idea to make a book of realistic pokemon portraits for Acen next year (lets see if that'll happen...I guess it depends on when I get my laptop back and if anything's been tampered with...
). So far I know I'm gonna also draw Houndoom, Mightyena, Meowth, Persian, Pidgeot, Staraptor, Spheal, Piplup, Growlithe, Arcanine, Eevee, and Ninetails. Not sure on which others I'll do...or maybe those are enough. I don't know. Anyways...the last Vulpix I drew, I modeled it off a red fox. This time around I used a fennec fox for reference. I'll probably do the same with Eevee (except make the ears much larger). Gonna play around with Vulpix's markings a bit too. The colors are gonna be the same as any other Vulpix, but I'm adding a few more marking on the face and will probably tone down the brightness of the orange fur on it's head.

I know what they look like. You don't think the pokemon master knows what they look like?
My problem with drawing them though is that I don't have a clear reference for how to color them. Yes, I know their colors, but it'll be really hard to translate them realistically. Probably not as hard as Piplup or some others, but still pretty hard to color yellow and blue realistically. I might try though.

Yeah..fur is kinda different than penguin skin. It's very shiny and rubber like...

Well, not baby penguins. Baby penguins are extremely fluffy 'cause of their down feathers. I see Piplup as a baby penguin. I guess if it never evolved, it could have the smooth feathers like adults.
I don't think an adult penguin's body is like rubber. It looks that way but they're covered in feathers too.

Yeah, Piplup's evolution goes from cute and adorable to a fighting soldier penguin...but still cute :3

This looks good, so far. I like the details.
A realistic Piplup and Spheal sound interesting. Their designs're really cartoony.

Well they wouldn't be too hard to draw though. Piplup's nothing but a baby Emperor Penguin and Spheal's just a baby seal.

Maybe I'll do both Growlite and Arcanine. It wouldn't be too hard. I was thinking of modeling them both off the Akita (with Growlith being an Akita puppy and...yeah you get the idea X3).
I only wanna draw Piplup 'cause I watched Happy Feet last night and wanna draw a baby penguin. X3
And I can finish this once I have my laptop back...hopefully.
