Never forget your origins and where you come from, for it shaped who you are today. Ariel knows while she loves the land, the sea is also a part of who she is and she couldn't deny that even when she had to keep Melody from the sea from Morgana as it's part of who they are and they can never deny it. It will always be a part of her and Melody.

I do love Ariel far more as an adult(same with Pocahontas). There's more to work with in teens if character. The fact that Ariel had to stay away from her home in sake of her daughter's safety, pukka the heart strings.

I like to think King Triton gifted Ariel with part of the Trident's magical power, in some ort of gem or something which she can use to transform from human to mermaind and vice versa whenever she wishes, with the ulterior motive of her visiting frequently!

This is so sad, almost as original Little Mermaid. I always thought that Ariel missed sea, no matter how much she pretends, she is still creature of sea and nature, a mermaid, daughter of Triton,son of Poseidon sea dod and Amphotryte sea nymph, descendant of Gaea the Earth herself, with blood flowing to Chaos itself.
