Sonic's Greatest Hero. World's Worst Dad?

Let me explain....

In a fanfic inspired by Pokemon music of all things, I put forth the idea of Tails dying before Sonic. Not an original idea, I've seen fics where Tails dies in a heroic act that saves Sonic, but leaves him wanting or totally demoralized. Sometimes, it just mentions him being a little less springy, or that he doesn't smile...

I went and explored some of Sonic's feelings and over time, a healing process. In the story, Sally married Sonic, knowing full well Sonic was not his old self, and they did have children; Angel being their youngest.

Angel reminded Sonic of Tails, so he regarded her differently. Eventually Sonic comes to grips with the loss of his friend and makes amends with his daughter...
