This is a problem I see kinda often in the Sonic community. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of great character designs out there, but there's also a ton of boring recolors too. Some people just need to be more creative. I mean hell, my character isn't even that creative, I've always had trouble coming up with designs. I especially hate the excuse of, "Don't worry, she's Amy's sister." Personally, I think the fan community should never coexist with the actual sonic universe because of this.Note: Any likeness to any fan-characters is purely coincidence and unintentional.

These are by far the worst kinds of recolors. They're uncreative and just won't have enough effort to make a decent Sonic OC.

The only reason i recolor is because i can't draw sonic characters to save ma life (seriously! i cannot draw those!) but i try to make them look as different as possible. I'm still trying to draw them, but still failing when i get to the body. Plus i usually just keep my recolors to myself, and only claim the characters themselves. Plus i always take off the background and make my own and stuff. So my characters aren't orginal, but they aren't like the green sonic with purple shoes.

The MAJOR problem with recolors is that most people who do recolors have a lack of effort and call them "original". Recolors can NEVER be original but they can be called creative but it requires enough edits to make it different from the original artwork but besides that, good pic.

well. Me and some other people say that is a recolor due to the fact its a blue tails. But then again, his character at least isnt a mary sue.

Yeah, Rico and Rika are close to recolors, but the original clothing sets them a bit apart. When you look at it though, if you take the clothes off of fan characters, very few of them would look original at all. My guy would be just a red sonic with a few yellow marks.

well It depends on what the recolor is. Like rico's character may be a recolor but the background of the character is original and well thought out. Ok your character, Sure it may be a red sonic with yellow markings but I bet it has an original background.
On some comments above, I read about someone saying that Jet the Hawk was a Sonic recolor, only with a beat and tail feathers. I really dont have an opinion because Sega created this character.
Just as long as its not a badly drawn, didn't-even-try recolor of Amy rose, renaming her Brandy and saying shes the long lost sister of Sonic and that she never dies because shes a goddess.

your recolour thing is true...but it is also seen during the real sonic characters...your green sonic there for exampal...add feathers and a beak take away the ears and you have Jet the Hawk!

I know man that is so retarded, took me a while to think of mine, mine is sort of derived from other fan chars and actual Sonic chars, but he's not a recolor at least, anyway, great pic and good message.
