The fun part is keeping the secret from Lincoln, which isn't too hard considering how occupied he is with all these dates.
Personally, I see it like this--Clyde is having no luck with girls and is feeling inferior to Lincoln. Meanwhile, Lynn is over Francisco and sees Clyde in a rut. She agrees to help him boost his self-esteem while handling her high school sports career. Clyde is into sports, too, but he's nowhere near competitive as Lynn, so he helps her practice. Soon, he becomes her personal coach, and they become closer.

Clyde is also a good sport that is baseball since Lynn and Clyde's parents mention that they trained Clyde was good at that sport in the past even won a trophy as seen in the program. technically if it is a bit athletic and likes to sports like lynn which makes it very common between them two
