Wow, thank you! I am really honored by this. The painting is ages old and has quite a few flaws, and therefore it mean even more to me that you decided to feature it. Thank you so much!

An unflinching portrait of an (often) ugly person ...

It's only the subject matter that makes something fanart. There's no reason fanart can't be art, loaded with the artist's feelings. Snape is good for expressing depth of emotion, especially for those of us who suffer from depression and chronic pain.

Again,I'm honoured to be reading this. I'm happy to hear this...not being a brainless idiot makes me feel better about myself. I guess I just go too deep in everything I draw,if it's a fictional character,I start seeing him as a human being,as a person, and then as myself... and from then on it goes to depth all by itself...
This one I could really relate to myself very very much. The "wounded animal" scream, the reasons for it and the attitude to life I am very familiar with in my own life. So it wasn't too hard to put myself in his shoes and draw everything from my own point of view. Otherwise the picture wouldn've felt very foreign in emotion but it didn't. Not to me anyway.

Wow,thank you. I thought the "wounded animal" description suited the idea so well. I've felt exactly this way,and I just had to draw and paint it my way.

Yeah,I wanted to make people see what they can't see in the first place...

I completely agree. Most people take fanart this way,or as simply an excuse to boast with a drawing technique or something like that. I tried to make a change,to show the character is fictional, but I'm not,and whatever pieces of my own emotions (NOT provoked by the character, yet reminded of by him) I've put in there, they're real, and so is the idea.Wanted to make it strong enough for people to see.Not merely fanart.
Oh yes. The character helps a great deal. Not a single-layered one,and with a lot of development. Makes it easier to depict real emotions using a fictional image.

At first I thought it was Trent Reznor (love his work) but man, I enjoy your paintings so much, I can almost feel the rage and sadness.

Well,I've never tried to draw Trent Reznor, not sure if I'd manage if I tried...his music is still a bit distant to me... but thank you. I'm glad it turned out to actually convey an emotion, this painting.

Thank you. Well,if you're a fan of the books, and you don't hate Snape, that book will most probably break your heart....and trust me,I don't think you'll be able to hate Snape once you've read it...

LOVE. ...even if it's HP... ^^ That fist is brilliant. REally captures the tension.
hey, be proud of fanart; it means you're susceptible to inspiration.

Thank you. The "even if it's HP" part made me proud; it means that the picture can get to people despite their general attitude...which means a lot, really a lot.
I still wouldn't call myself a HP fan,not possible anymore, really. The reason I painted this was something beyond that that I can neither reveal nor explain nor understand. On reading the bits that concern the picture,I thought.....well that could have been me. A love failure,a victim of never-ending,constantly devastating and never-accomplished affection for someone for the rest of my damn life. If only I hadn't decided to make one lucky phonecall,it would have been me. Long story. But I've felt like that,so I feel more than sorry for such people. Or characters. Therefore I painted that one.
Well,I don't mind fanart, but most people see it as nothing but depiction of scenes and characters, they take it shallowly. Most people don't even suppose there could be fanart with an idea in it. And I do put ideas in all my art. I don't want generally accepted shallow understandings to prevent people from seeing these ideas. They think this way:"I don't read that, don't know/like the book/character,don't care about him/her,so why should I give a damn about the idea, whatever it is?" And I don't wanna say something just to the hardcore fans, but to everyone who sees it...That's why I'm glad you didn't react like most people. That's what builds the 'ART' in 'fanART'.
P. S. I'm glad you liked the fist. Funny, for some reason that fist is the one thing I hate about this picture,so I'm glad someone's taste compensated for that.
