Personality
Aoki in general is very quiet and hardly talks at all, at first, but that doesn't stop people from being able to tell what's on his mind as he is very expressive and will make ridiculously over dramatic facial expressions. Most people are surprised at the fact that the moment Aoki feels he is comfortable with you he will talk and talk and talk in his soft tone until you can't take it anymore as he seems to have an abundance to say. He's actually very rebellious despite his innocent looks and, if he wants to, could be quite mean if you rub him the wrong way (aka any kind of cruelty towards animals or people he thinks of as his friend everyone). He is, unfortunately, very unorganized why is he even the president pffft and loses things quite frequently. He is very hardworking though and will not stop until he drops dead...again...or the job is done right no matter the circumstances.
Biography
Here, this is the song I listen to that very coincidentally fits his back story PERFECTLY *cries hysterically* like no joke I was crying while I wrote orz...www.youtube.com/watch?v=0aeToM… GOMEN THIS IS SO FREAKING LONG. I got carried away ;7;....
When Aoki was born to his parents and older brother by two years, they were told he wouldn't make it through the night due to a rare heart condition. Despite this, Aoki lived to see the next morning and lived to see the next day and the next and the next. He was able to have a semi normal life the first few years of his childhood, although being rather frail and small due to his condition, he could get along happily enough.
But it didn't last.
Everyday his parents would have mixed feelings about their child, they were worried sick about him, but at the same time they were afraid to get too close to him knowing that he could die any day and they didn't want to feel that pain and grief if he did. Therefore what little affection he got came from his brother and soon later, his younger brother and sister by four years.
On the day after Aoki's fourth birthday, he collapsed. He was rushed to the hospital immediately where his family received terrible news: Aoki 's condition was worsening at a high rate. His parents decided they couldn't bare seeing their son like he was and admitted him to the hospital and left him there, hardly visiting ever, afraid of what they might find the next time they visited.
For the next several years Aoki grew up practically being raised by his elder brother and the nursing staff that pitied him, along with visits from his younger siblings. As the years passed Aoki's siblings began getting wrapped up with school, their friend, life, and future and soon they became so busy they stopped coming to visit as they no longer had time for a boy who had no future. So for the next four years Aoki was alone.
By age eleven Aoki took to staring out the window in his hospital room longingly at the school children laughing and talking happily with each other as they walked to the near by school, he did this for nearly a year straight until one January day, the day before his twelfth birthday, a kind nurse came to Aoki giving him a box of color pencils and some paper asking if he liked to draw, she was simply making light conversation with the boy as because he was always so quiet and they had yet to see him smile the other nurses tended to stray away from socializing with him not knowing how to approach a conversation with him.
He shrugged.
"I'm sure you'll love it if you give it a try!" she told him cheerfully. He carefully took the art supplies from her timidly, then staring down at it he looked back at her as if saying "what do I do with it?"
She smiled," Ne, Aoki-kun, what is it that you stare at outside the window?"
"Happiness", he told her, that was the first word any of the hospital staff had ever heard him utter and the nurse along with all the other eavesdropping staff outside his room door gave a surprised expression at his delicate tone that replied with such a word. The nurse gave him a sad look knowing that the boy couldn't go outside, that with how frail he was becoming, that it could kill him.
"Aoki-kun...", she began and hesitantly took his hands carefully in hers afraid she might snap them in half," you know how the doctors told you going outside can hurt you really bad, right?"
Aoki nodded.
"what if I told you that you could bring the outside inside!" she asked with a big smile. Aoki's eyes lit up, and although the corners of his mouth had yet to turn up, it was the closet anyone had seen to a smile yet.
"How?" he asked quickly.
"I'll show you", the nurse got up and with a sheet of paper in hand and pencil she sketched out a rabbit in the park across the street from the hospital she'd seen, which was strange to see at that time of year, that morning coming to work," See, it's a rabbit from outside in the park ", she pointed and held up her drawing to him as she walked over to the big white wall that was bare as could be in front of Aoki's bed," I took the rabbit from outside," she began as she pulled a piece of bandaging tape from her pocket off the roll," and brought it into Aoki-kun's room."
Aoki was amazed to say the least because now "happiness" was inside his room!
After that that's all Aoki did was draw happiness then taped it up in his room on the wall, he had decided to bring every tree, sidewalk, stray dog, person, every dust particle and all that walked past, sat, or floated nearby the hospital that he could see into his room. He spent everyday of his life drawing, every waking moment. His room soon became a sight to be hold and a main topic of talk with in the hospital as staff and other sick patients began stopping by to admire the amazing drawings that hung on the small, dying boys wall, despite the company, Aoki never spoke to them though. Only to the nurse that had gave him his passion did he utter one word responses to.
Soon, Aoki's days to live were beginning to come to an end. Everyone could tell he had only a few more weeks at the most, they were all just hoping and pleading that the boy would live to his sixteenth birthday.
Two weeks later the day before Aoki's sixteenth birthday and the fourth anniversary of him bringing "happiness" into the whole hospital, as his drawings inspired not just him but everyone who came to see them, and at 11:00 pm a few staff members and his nurse who he considered his friend came in with a few balloons ready to wish him a happy birthday at exactly 12:00 am and congratulate him on his drawings.
At 11:30 Aoki began coughing. He is eyes widened as when he uncovered his mouth with his hand it was covered in blood. From there everything began to worsen, his already pale face became as white as the wall use to be four years ago, and his eyes and expression as blank and dull as it was as well.
11:44- Aoki laid back, his head sinking into his pillow his eye's fluttering to stay awake," tired", he muttered.
At this point it was now clear what was happening.
"Aoki-kun! No, it's okay, if you just stay up for about fifteen more minutes you can celebrate your sixteenth birthday!", his only friend cheered for him trying to hold back tears, she was told not to get to close to patients like Aoki, but she couldn't help it and she didn't regret it at all.
Aoki meekly turned and stared out his window into the black snowy night. 11:50.
"Aoki!" the nurse shouted at him," Would you like to see your happiness!?" she asked lifting the weak boy out of bed.
12:56. The nurse and friend threw open the front entrance doors to the hospital and ran out into the snow.
"cold", Aoki barely whispered, having only enough energy to open the palm of his hand to let the snow fall on it.
12:57. Aoki's friend collapsed to the ground," please Aoki! you can make it!", she pleaded with him.
12:58. Aoki looked up at his friend as they sit out in the cold, the cold he felt his whole life with no one there, until she showed up.
12:59. "Thank you." then a soft smile spread across his face as he uttered the first full sentence to his friend.
12:59 and 16 seconds. Aoki nuzzled himself closer to the only warmth he really never fully felt in his entire life, then closed his eyes knowing this would be the last time he ever felt it.
That night at 12:00 am. The whole hospital gathered inside and out side, lining the hall by and in Aoki's room and sang happy birthday to him.
Ever since that night every year for the next four years on January the 4th at exactly 12:00 patients and staff would find pictures in their pockets, in books, and tapped on walls that seemingly appeared at random always sighed at the bottom Aoki. Even when no longer living, Aoki gave pieces of happiness to everyone, then without a warning on the four year a only a single picture showed up.
As a nurse reached her hand into her pocket to grab her bandaging tape she felt a piece of paper she could have sworn she never put there. She pulled it out. She unfolded it, her eye welled up with tears. On it, the rabbit that she had drawn eight years ago although something was different about it, something only she heard and knew of ever happening. Across the paper in the same pretty script as the boy four years ago she seen the same words," Thank you." She took off running to the room which had been untouched ever since that night throwing the door open she ran to the window, although she didn't know why. Looking out she seen a familiar small boy with a big smile on his face waving. She knew it was a goodbye wave. She threw the window open and waved furiously at the boy, then with a gust of wind that blew up a little snow in front of her line of vision, the boy
was gone.
Other Information
Aoki's favorite animal is a Rabbit which is why he agreed to help head master Usagi create Aokigahara Gakuen
Aoki's talkative and rebellious ways are a result of him never getting to do those things when he as alive.
Aoki hates his birthday because he wasn't strong enough to make it those 44 seconds for everyone that had hoped he would live to be a year older.
Because of his death's circumstances Aoki is always cold to the touch and feels cold himself, therefore he always wares a scarf in an attempt to keep warm.
You will only see Aoki out of winter attire during the very hottest part of summer, but even then, it feel like mid fall to him.
