What they were like before Jonetsu Boarding School?

Kokaku was a poor part-timer and college student majoring in history and foreign language who built himself up in reputation by being a foreign translator for the government and became pretty wealthy doing so. Eventually he realized he like teaching and decided to head in a different direction and get his teachers degree. Upon looking for positions in high schools he found Joetsu High which really slapped him in the feels remembering back when he was a poor high school student, so deciding he had money to burn considering he only has to support his younger brother and himself he was set on becoming a teacher at the school.

Personality:

Soft spoken: Kokaku has always been soft spoken, so much so that he can walk into a room and back out without anyone noticing.

Cheapskate: Since being poor as a child Kokaku has gained habits in saving money and food and can't stand seeing anything wasted or any money not spent properly even if he's
now pretty well off.

Creative: Kokaku is what one could call "creative", being that he enjoys making up outrageous stories when people ask about his past so he doesn’t have to talk about it. What's even more outrageous than the stories themselves is the fact that Kokaku seems to have a talent for making people actually believe his stories.

Influential: Kokaku is extremely influential and can get nearly anyone to do almost
anything for him (within reason), whether it be giving him something or believing in his crazy stories.

Hard working: Kokaku is hard working by nature considering it was really only left up to him to raise and be the bigger person to his brother.

Sickly: Kokaku was always a weak child who easily caught colds and passed out from pushing himself too hard. Even now he often finds him self sick and ignoring how he feels until passing out from exhaustion considering his extreme work-a-holic behavior.

Forever starving: Kokaku is ALWAYS hungry. You want to get on his good side? He accepts all food bribery and teacher-petery with open arms. He loves everything about food and can be seen almost everywhere with something to munch on. This was probably because in his childhood he found his brother and himself having to skip meals because not having the money.

Blunt: Kokaku is extremely blunt and doesn't hesitate to say what's on his mind if he feels it's worth saying. Sometimes what he says can come off as rude, but due to his forever kind smiling exterior he has never been scolded by anyone other than his younger brother for it.

Apathetic: Kokaku, over the years, has sub consciously put up a smiling front to hide his emotions so not to cause trouble for people around him and especially his brother, so seemingly he only has one emotion: happy.

Oblivious: Kokaku is completely oblivious to love or any kind of affection from the opposite gender towards him. He often would accidentally offend and/or upset women co-workers at his part-time jobs who were interested in him because he couldn't recognize their feelings. Even in high school he was quite popular with women, but would obliviously use them to his advantage by accepting their edible gifts and having it for dinner that night with his brother.

Smart and observant: Kokaku is extremely smart due to one factor: he has a photographic memory. He often uses his memory and observation skills to always have the higher hand in everything and is most definitely accountable for his influential powers. Although he will never straight up tell anyone about his memory because he always felt he was cheating a bit in life by only relying on it to get him through school and such.

Kokaku was born to a vey poor but close and loving family. Soon after Kokaku was born his parents quickly realized he had a talent that could help him get out of the slums and make a living, his photographic memory. When kokaku turned five his mother had a second child, his younger brother Hakuyuki. Unfortunately when Kokau was in his fifth year in elementary school his parents died in an accident that neither the police or any other person would tell him the details about. He was simply expected to accept their deaths and move on. So he did for the sake of his brother. Using the very little insurance money his parents left he was able to buy an old rundown apartment of a nice land lady who pitied the children for himself and his brother.

When he finally was of age to start working kokaku used nearly all his free time to be a part timer considering he had no reason to study. Eventually when Kokaku got into his second year of middle school he realized that if he could skip a few grades it would save him a lot of money, so he was able to skip up to his first year in high school by making a full score on the entrance exam. The next year he skipped up to a third year and graduated high school at only fifteen.

Turning sixteen Kokaku started collage and was able to finish in three years by devoting his
summers to taking classes as well instead of taking time off like other students. During his college years he had almost his whole collage experience paid off in scholarships and was well loved by all his professors who would often refer him to their friends businesses. His foreign language teacher was the one who had got him the job of a foreign translator which had brought him and his brother out of the slums.

Now at nineteen he considers himself a very capable adult and likes to be treated as such as a
teacher at Jonetsu High.

Other Information:

He really enjoys the supernatural considering it seems to be the only thing his brain can't comprehend and has no sure explanation for, so you can often find him reading a book on the subject or his eyes lighting up if brought up in a conversation.

His little brother, Hakuyuki, is in his second year of middle school will often call Kokaku at school worrying about him or sometimes even visit him after school to check to make sure he's not unconscious in a strange place xD. Of course Kokaku doesn't mind it considering he acts like a doting father towards Hakuyuki and likes his little brother's affection.

He prefers the personal pronoun "ore", but found that his co-workers would often treat him like a child when using it as to when he used the more professional pronoun "watashi". Therefore you can only catch him using ore when he is by himself, with his brother, non-job related friends, or by simple slip of the tongue.

He is a bit intimidated by the idea of teaching the third year students because of how close in age him and they are.

He is a very good cook considering he didn't have the money to ever eat in restaurants or even fast food places and was always worried about his brother's health (although he should have been more worried about his own ^_^").

Kokaku commutes between home and Jonetsu High because he still has to take care of his younger brother.
