Description
I decided to venture out from my comfort zone/hooks and try out something new. Heavily inspired by the Maori Toki/axe heads. Originally, these rectangular pendants were made out of stone and could be fastened to a wooden handle to use as a pick or axe.

This particular homage is carved out of cow bone, polished to a mirror shine, and bound along its lower edge with wax coated golden/brown twine. I recently learned how to braid/twist my own cord so its attached to a very sturdy 3 line cotton/wax necklace. The Toki is most strongly associated with courage in a time of adversity. I drew influence from both the Maori and the saw toothed war clubs used by many different Polynesian warriors.
