Description Fluff fluff!

The long-necked deer is most commonly found in the forests of Iladus. It is generally not considered a game animal due to its relative lack of meat (and lack of parts that make good trophies), so it shows little fear toward humans.

Both the long-necked buck and the long-necked doe have antlers, but the deer rarely use their antlers to fight. The size of the rack alone determines dominance, since combat could cause serious neck injuries.

Unlike most mammals, long-necked deer have ten neck vertebrae (as opposed to seven), making their necks noticeably more flexible than those of giraffes or okapis.

The long tail serves multiple purposes: it balances the neck, particularly when running, and it keeps the animal warm when it rests. Although the deer tend to live in regions that experience little or no snowfall, their thin legs lose heat quickly. By covering their legs with their tails while sleeping, the deer are more able to maintain their ideal body temperature, even in the cold.

fluff fluff <3
amazingly soft and well done
maybe they figth like the giraffes do? they use their long neck to swing up a momentum and aim for the soft abdomen with their horns. though raffies also tend to just size eachother down and decide who wins on that

Thank you!
That would certainly make sense; these guys look enough like giraffes that it's plausible for them to exhibit giraffe-like behavior.

Plus, giraffe fights are pretty awesome!

Real deer are tougher, though. Trip one of these while it's running and it's down! For good! D:

tails/antlers do not make 'good trophies?'
i like the spotted pelt and the mouse-like face.

soyrwoo In reply to KreepingSpawn [2010-11-26 04:16:54 +0000 UTC]

The antlers are a bit brittle and the fur is too coarse for any practical or decorative use. Kind of a shame, really XD
