Well, here it is in color. As I said when I posted the b/w version, it's been way too long since I've drawn the main man, and this sure was fun to do. An' fer ya dweebs who don't know their butts from their fraggin' elbows, this is th' Bo, as seen in that title Wizard didn't like. (For which they were properly fragged.)I'd like to thank *SurrealMetamorphosis for her input on how to do smoke, I tried to apply it here, and I think it's safe to say it came out looking better than on the Nemesis piece.

That's intentional - I don't know if you're familiar with this character, but he's supposed to have a pointy tongue.

Hey there. I think you applied your friend's advice about the smoke very well. However, there's two different styles at work that seems to make it clash. Lobo (LOVE LOVE the character, so naughty) is himself drawn with a bold minimalist style that makes generous use of blocked in areas of black for shading and color, very opaque, versus that of the transparent subtlety of the smoke. Sure isn't enough to make me stop loving it, though, just a random thought.

Yeah, you know, I've thought about that too. It's not really comic-book smoke, basically, so there's a bit of a clash of styles there. The thing is, I've tried ink-drawn smoke before, and when I colored that, it ended up looking like crumpled up toilet paper floating in mid-air. I guess I need to find some kind of middle ground here.

thank god for Kieth giffen. If his only two accomplishments in this world were creating the Main Man and Trencher (one of the shortest run gems of comic genious ever) then his life would have not been wasted. Have you seen the christmas special yet?

Trencher, that's what it was called. Damn, I've been trying to remember what that comic's title was for ages (not that I don't have it, but I'm lazy.) I seem to recall Punx was really good too, but I haven't read it in years. I wish somebody at least had the decency to reissue this stuff in tpb format.
And yeah, I've read the Christmas special - if you're talking about the older one with Santa and the Easter Bunny, you might want to check out the sequel that came out a year or two ago with Jenny Quantum and the rest of the Authority, that was hilarious too. You've got to hand it to DC, they've always handled the Main Man right. Except when he lost that fight with Wolverine, but let's not talk about that. *barf*

i got all the issues of Trencher that image put out and the BlackBall press first appearance (that was a bitch to hunt down). don't think it'll see tpb though considering it was never really finished.
i was actually talking about the short film that they made of the special not that long ago. its crazy who this nobody got to be in it, and when he asked Giffen to rewrite the story as a 13 minute script he agreed and added lots of great new stuff.

I like the coloring and the shadowing.
The hook and eye however, look odd. It is as if the eye is hovering in front of the hook instead of being penetrated.
Smoke looks good to me.

Yeah, now that you mention it, it might've been a good eye to show where the hook is actually sticking in the eye to make that more clear. Thanks for the input.
