My entry for ^maytel 's February - Artisan Craft Monthly Challege . The theme for the month was "life".

What does my lovely, soft, and incredibly warm piece of clothing have to do with life, you ask? Simple. It's construction is a perfect example of what my life is. This poncho required 4 skeins of Lion Brand Homespun yarn. This yarn, while not super expensive, is still not cheap either. Each skein was selling for $7....so $28 for the whole thing. We are in the process of buying a house so, while $28 normally wouldn't seem like a whole lot of money....it kinda is right now, for something that still has to be worked to be useful. HOWEVER! The yarn went on sale! That's right, $5 a skein! AND!! THAT'S RIGHT! MOAR CAPS! I had a COUPON! Yep, 20% off. The total cost of the yarn for this project was: $16, give or take. Yeah, I am a penny pincher for my craft.

Add to this semi-intense couponing (I had to actually plan the day I was going b/c the yarn was only on sale for two ) that I am a mother of two crazy boys, finding time to work on my gorgeous project was difficult. It took me almost 2 weeks to finish a project that others had claimed only took them a weekend (I believe these others to be liars...but that is just my opinion). Finding time to add rows became an important goal in my daily life. See what I did there?

It is my first official piece of crocheted clothing. It took planning, and penny counting, and scrabbling for time to finish....and really, at this stage, that is the story of my life.
