Hiromu Arakawa is a genius. the idea of taking man's highest enlightening achievements in science and technology and using them to kill "sand people" for the sake of Nation. god i love FMA. its political satire on the history and current standings of the United States is so dead on i'm surprised it isn't illegal. as lame as some of the series' fans are, at least after watching it they're all a little bit punk rok. now if only they cared abut stopping this nation's reign of terror over the world as much as they cared about cosplay and yaoi...
if only i could find a nice ref to work from of dante's homunculus seal.
vector forms helped a LOT with the geometry involved. sadly the reference image i had was craptastic scan the size of a stamp. tracing any of the more characteristic forms (see: slamander, flame emblem) was not an option. also, they were all sideways and curving along Riza's back and half covered with scar tissue. also the text was completely unintelligible (but most of the transmute incantations are Babelfish-worthy japanglish-latin gobbledeeguk anyhow) so i had to improvise. bummer.
but here's a nice clean version fer yawll. ooo look, it's even glove colored.

well, no-- it's the trans circle tattooed on Riza Hawkeye's back. her father was Roy's alchemy teacher. she has Roy destroy the tattoo by disfiguring her with a burn to make it illegible so no one can ever use the flame alchemy circle ever again because it is vicious and terrible.

i am super skeptical about anime. i dare say i am an anime hipster. i hate just about everything that isn't a classic. if you know me well enough you know i make fun of almost everything in the world because 95% of all enternainment is well... ghey.
but FMA. is. genius. it's centered around nothing but real world topics and has the best character designs i've seen since, like, 1996. it tops Eva in my opinion.
if you get the time i'd definitely invest some in that series. it starts really slow and is very long, i'll warn ya. (50 eps).

ahahaah more manga were u jumping up and down like i was when more finaly came out!!!! oh yes i have to say those chapters of the ishbalen war were very moving. i felt so bad for the rockbells saving all those ishbalens then being killed by scar. altho i cant blame him. i think he didnt even relise what he had done,
i must say i enjoy the manga version of kimblee too. he has a philosophy and is at peace with what he dose (kill ppl) yet he is completly mad. hehe he ate the phil stone that was funny.
also i like the idea of the tattoo on riza's back only what kind of father would make his child get a tattoo like that!!!! merr poor riza.

i like kimblee coz he is evil in a diff way. have u ever watched constentin with kiano reeves? u no the devil in that i love how its portrayed. its soo diffrent and he is plainly evil but not in the oviouse why. thats what i like. im seek of seeing evil anime/manga characters who have pionty edges and sharp nails , teeth and thats it.
its good when ur characters are suttle but in ur face.

and kimbley is SO THAT SAME KIND OF CHARACTER dude, he's all grinny and seethy and lame! he's not subtle at all. the constantine devil was the same way, but fortunately they only used him in a very short scene after immense buildup so his presence hit you just right-- he wasn't over the top at all.

no they are way too sensitive. the christians in FLA want to turnover a new vaccine for HPV (causes cervical cancer after a 20+yr dormancy period) for girls age 12 and 11-ish. they say that innoculating children against STDs teaches them that sex is okay. the christians want the school curriculum to not talk about STDs and promote safe sex, but promote abstinence until marriage. so they will fight and fight to stop a medical advance that would save thousands of lives by 2030, because they don't want girls to have casual sex. i suppose they'd rathe their curious little girls all died in their early thirties while their babies were still young. selfish types that they are.

cancer is... strange to me. i think it's the universe's anser to a present and acting judgement figure. not saying "oh grandpe died of cancer because he was a bad person" but in the grand scope of things, in such numbers that we exist in, i could see it being pretty selective.

cervical cancer exists outside of HPV. if you can stop it from developing for that reason, then go for it. same as 'dont' smoke' or 'don't visit chernobyl.' but ...cancer shouldn't be cured. not if there's nothing left to stop society from consuming itself.
