Description lots of heart, a little sentimentality, heaps of ego, and less work than i thought.

oleander is my favorite flower, not specifically white ones.
i'm a wino of sorts and an avid dead-animal-parts collector. i do not own any smilodon skulls (yet.)
for some reason here i'm Myrtle-colored.
the skull-cat is my old gal Shadow (she is 19 and multicolored with age!)
the gargoyle-ish cat-man is Dave (he is a bloodthirsty one)
and the spider is Ambrose-- the crickets are his food (though i consider them pets during our time together. :3)
the rest of the beasties are just some fanciful fluff to fill out the frame. plenty more creatures i would have loved to represent; however, i wasn't up to taking on the world.

i was gonna veck the lineart, but some "fuck that"'s happened and i settled. the slop is kinda charming; it'd look better vectored of course (bushel of things i'd like to fix,) but i kinda dig this raw, kiddish look.
color is 100% vector (not sure why i was such a stickler in light of all that.^)
lineart is pen.
texture has been removed from his gallery, which is always changing, but i picked it up years ago from *Aegean-Prince , that lovely sir.

sooooo
*clicks tongue*
nicht tot!

This is gorgeous, Kate. Love the colors and layout of everything. Even though it doesn't have the clean vec look, I think it might be better this way cause of the colors used and the over all look (but then again maybe you picked the colors to go with the less sharp look?). All in all, looks fucking bad ass, great work, as always

I just think this is so great. I love how it all came together and you chose the perfect set of colours to use. More like this please!

thank you. i always have this kind of image in my head/my heart, but i rarely put the work into making it complete and presentable and NOT cartoonish (this kinda is) with this much detail. art nouveau is... intimidating for me that way.

I know what you mean. We have to trust our instincts. Sometimes I get the bug to work a single piece and milk it for all it's worth and other times 'quick and dirty' can work just as well. What mainly comes across in your work is a feeling or a mood and you always seem to be right on the money when choosing colours to demonstrate what you want to say. I envy that because I find it difficult at times. To me that says you don't need to always go for great amounts detail (leave that to the technical nerds like me), but then sometimes when you get the bug -go for it! This menagerie of yours is one of those times when it paid off to be persistent, you found the mood and the detail.

'quick and dirty'... i like that term. not just in a silly, sordid way but it describes perfectly well how i go about most art in between those really high-caliber projects.

and that is an incredibly special compliment to my work, that means so much coming from a master of presentation like yourself! thank you.
i would like to master some of the technical nerd ability also, but i feel like i'll never be ready! lol i will try not to let this comment go to my head; living in a wrld of "this is good enough" is a constant problem for me.

i.... loved the concept, but was not pleased with the "unbelievable" result; i don't draw insects often so i'm glad you like it and plan on incorporating them more into stuff. they're fuckin' neat!

thank you shaun! n_n

I love how this turned out! The coloring is beautiful too; I really like the skin tone on you especially. How did you color it with vectors though? Was it in illustrator (I don't know that program too well)?

i did do the colors all vector, but i put this sLaMmiN' rusted metal stock i got from A-P in like 2007 over it, which gives it the paint-y look and slight hue variants.

thank you!
