In her final efforts of struggle, the bubbles grew enough to close the crack. Then the seam sealed itself. She was no longer visible, and all she could see was pink. She was stuck, encased between two layers of gum, like a vacuum seal. But it wasn't over. Instead of suffocating from a lack of oxygen, she began to experience a strange sensation. She no longer had a need to breathe. Instead, the gum started bonding to her skin, almost like it was seeping into her. She could feel every inch of her skin melt to the surface. She was blending with the bubble, like a mixture of taffy. Her matter was becoming one with the bubble. Even her clothes disappeared. Her mind felt light; her consciousness beginning to fade. She could feel her being connect with the gum, and her individuality dissipate. She was becoming an object; transforming into a lesser state of being. Soon, there was nothing left, and when the bubble deflated, there was no sign of the girl. It was something out of a magic act. She was no more; one with the bubble; a bunch of additional pink matter, joined with the rest. No longer a girl, but nothing more than bubblegum now...

Just the right amount of pink, in fact.Β
Really just a great pic, all around. Despite its singular subject and point of focus, it just helps to convey a strong narrative and lack of fuss to the pic.
Immediately, I'm just captivated by our lovely (and rather unfortunate) gal's expression. That element of fear; you'd probably heard this before - but you've really captured that heart-pounding moment of realization that she's been struggling for some time to escape, and now she's just about to be swallowed up by a huge unpoppable bubble and there's nothing she can do about it.Β
The way her hands are clawed into the bubble that's bulging around them (rather than say... reaching out towards the viewer) just adds to that 'impending finality' of her bubbly predicament. The 'you can struggle all you want, but there's no escape the snug embrace' part of the story.Β
Your attention to detail is marvelous as well, the puffing of her lips and cheeks from the bubble's pressure as well as the bubble's light on her face and reflected in her eye (that 'rim' pink glow). It really does help to add to the realism that grounds the pic, regardless of its 'fantastic' setting.Β
Take note other people who are viewing this, that's how light actually reflects on someones eye and face. Not everything is a light-eating-matt-black hole.Β
Lastly, I love your excellent use of colors here (as I said, just the right amount of pink). I just noticed after closer scrutiny that you probably chose blue for the gal's eye and a deep red for her lips intentionally. The blue and red really helps her face stand out a bit more in the sea of pinkΒ
Lastly-lastly, (yeesh, are you never gonna shut up?) - I also just noticed that I think her hands are the other way around... looking at the angle of her face and anatomy, I have a feeling that her right hand would be on top and her left at the bottom - just by the way her (currently) top left hand's thumb is positioned....Β
Might be just my bad eye, though...
Ack - I've rambled too much... Once again - a real amazing pic ! (despite it's more simplistic nature)Β

Khornath In reply to Spartly [2018-08-08 01:35:02 +0000 UTC]
Well... I never actually asked 'Can it be me?'. However, that may, probably, in a totally non-committal manner, be what I'm saying hypothetically.Β
Aww, never ever think yourself of anything less than a most masterful real life artist, because you absolutely are ! (unless you're a part of the voices in my head that tells me to sacrifice llamas to the wallaby-demons)Β
The kind words are absolutely warranted ~ I mean, your works are always full of the subtle, lovely details to pick out and interpret.Β
I dunno, when I took a closer look (having stopped gushing at the marvel of the overall picture), I found her arms/hands a little weird. I'll send you a note about it.Β
It's a minor detail, that really doesn't detract anything from the pic... except when it, y'know weirds me out a bit and-- (shut up, Khornath!)

Khornath In reply to Spartly [2018-08-08 02:22:22 +0000 UTC]
Yeah - the way you've explained it to me makes sense now. And just proves I was getting it wrong (curse my bad eye!)
Also, it actually makes it doubly interesting if the hidden narrative makes it such that those aren't her hands (mmmm~)Β
Cheers !Β
