Description
Caeruleaphycea
The Caeruleaphycea clade is represented by small, pure blue telescopic seaweed.
These algae grow in dense beds; the largest species do not exceed 50 cm. The beds of Caeruleaphycea are important for sediment deposition and substrate stabilization, and they are important breeding grounds for many species. One really noticable trait is that the members of this clade have interconnected roots rather than holdfast. They can retract when they feel threatened.
