If I could have had anything good happen on the show for poor Dib, this would be it. I honestly think this is what he needs most in the world, just a big, freaking hug from his dad. Not to be called insane, or reprimanded, or thrown in the Crazy House, or to hear the phrase 'Real Science!' over and over... just to know he's got a father that loves him and is proud of him no matter what. I think Dib really loves and admires his dad, and wants his attention so badly, and I wish that just for once he could have it, without having to give up who he is.

I don't think the Professor is a bad guy necessarily, just not-so-good at being a father to Dib. He's better, it seems, with Gaz for some reason, and it always made me sad that he could never give that same affection to his son, or clone, or experiment or whatever it was they planned on revealing Dib to be. I don't think it matters; to Dib, Professor Membrane is his dad and always will be, and he'll always want his dad's love and approval. Just once, Professor, you need to tell your son, "I love you."

I'll admit, even I teared up a few times while working on this one I feel like it's kinda sad, but sweet at the same time. I hope you all like it.

I kept thinking about my grandpa while drawing this, too, so I want to dedicate this to him. I'd give anything to be able to hug him again like this.

Edit: This great drawing also helped inspire me when I saw it.
