Description Event: {Mini Event} Celestial Lustrum [open]

For part 2 I decided to focus on Ash!

The "then" for Ash was that he was a very focused farmer, friendly and helpful whenever he could be. Once his family and entire town was wiped out and he was killed he came back as something far more selfish and vengeful. But before all of that he really was bright eyed and bushy tailed! He had a strong love for anything gardening related, animal related and had a black hole of a stomach for homemade meals.

The "now" for Ash, being the halv he is, is someone hellbent on expunging raiders and other flavors of space pirates. He's still pretty friendly if you don't fall into those categories! But otherwise...I mean...he is able to turn people into dust 👀 Food doesn't quite sit well with him anymore, but he does know how to live off of the land quite well for what he needs.

Before he'd wear a lot of flannel because that'd be too cute tbh, but now he rocks leather and his tattered weird cape that grows up with a bunch of mushrooms when he's halv'd out.

u__u I love this dude a lot <3 One of my oldest birbs now!

Fields of wheat waved softly in the breeze that swept over the rolling hills. Small farms and rustic homesteads dotted the countryside, carving out where family units had settled. Ash followed the trail of barns with his eyes until they stopped on an open area where none of the tall crop reached. A town with its small smattering of buildings were constructed higher and finer than the rest of the spread out communities. As if on autopilot the bird began to walk towards it at his own pace.

The scent of the wheat and corn reminded him of the farm he’d grown up on. His sunset colored eyes shut and he focused on the feel of the peat and dirt beneath his talons. It was familiar, and it felt like home, but he knew it wasn’t his. The musing smile that had formed on his face dropped when some reality seeped back in. His eyes reopened in time for him to duck under a lopsided stalk of corn.

Ash’s fingers reached out to run across the leaves of the crop. It was a complete antithesis to the dust he’d left his own home in years ago. The lands had been mercilessly cremated from the sheer force of his grief, anger and confusion. This land, on the other hand, hadn’t been targeted and instead flourished away from the interaction of pirates or the sea’s other varieties of monsters. The scowl on the bird’s face had kept narrowing as he reminisced on what he no longer had. His feet continued to carry him through the fields until the stalks parted and revealed the town he’d been traveling to.

It wasn’t all that uncommon for Ash to find himself at small colonies that were in the more rural reaches of the celestial seas. Every few months he found himself going extremely off course and beelining for these agrarian settings. To him it felt like a natural pull, and therefor was just something that needed to happen. He hadn’t consciously taken the deep dive necessary to dissect the strong need he had to re-familiarize himself with something living. Something that he no longer was.

The town was quiet, but there was activity as the locals bustled about. Small stands were stocked with local produce and other forms of unique harvest. Strange animals were walked on leads or ridden on the well traveled dirt of the town. Children ran around, chasing one another and laughing in the summer weather. Ash pulled the hood down from his cloak and inhaled a deep breath to steel himself and his emotions. He didn’t leave the edge of the crops, and stayed as shadowed as he could while he merely watched.

While it was a painful reminder to the bird of what he had lost, it also reminded him of everything he fought for. Everything that he was alive for. He kept his mouth intentionally shut, always terrified that any mere whisper could curse the land and render it to nothing but dust and death. He wouldn’t stay long, as he didn’t feel comfortable leaving his ship unattended or large interactions, but the small break from the hunt he’d tasked himself with was something he refused to give up. He looked up to the sun that began to dip towards the horizon. It had been a short trip, but he felt motivated and justified in his goals.
