Good day, love ~ Would you care to join me for some tea... um, art appreciation?~

Ahh ... so a couple of days ago, I was under a terrible spell of boredom ... and to become motivated once again, I decided to grant some lucky deviant a request! However, it had to be fanart (excluding anime), and I was to choose a character from the first 3 comments.

I forgot to check DA for hours, and upon my return, there were maaany comments and suggestions ... so I made a poll. The lovely characters in competition were Princess Kidagadesh (?), Anastasia Romanov, Rinzler, Coraline Jones, Jim Hawkins, Kuzco, Jeanne D'Arc, Moana of Motonui (X'D?), Cinderella and Pocahontas. Coraline completely crushed the chances of everyone else, and so I was to reimagine her in my art style~!

Ahem ... X'D So with this piece, I worked especially on anatomy; even more than with Kôra! (wait ... Kôra? and then Coraline ... ? X'D) I made her head much smaller and her hands much larger. Unfortunately I was able to use a reference for one of her hands but not the other, resulting in a disparity in the accurate shape ofthe fingers. Some of them are way too ... stubby, lol It almost felt wrong to draw proper anatomy and scale, tbh, and I spent a long while just getting her pose correct! It could have turned out a little better, but overall I'm pretty proud of this piece, and hopefully it will lead me into more improvement. (also, yes, the mouth is small on purpose. Her mouth looks pretty small in the movie ... and with fanarts, I always try a little bit to emulate the original while also keeping it in my own distinctive style ^^)

I enjoyed going a more gothic route with this piece. Obviously, Ms. Jones is also a teenager here ... because I thought trying to draw not only better anatomy, but also a child, would be too difficult a level to reach for me just yet. I honestly like her better like this; maybe she grew up to be a detective and discover many new things ... I can imagine the headlines now ... !

This lovely girl's style is simply too pure and gorgeous for words. I adore the colour choices, the sparkliness of everything and the overal magical and creative vibe. She also has been improving incredibly fast; I highly suggest her beautiful and inspirational gallery to you~!
