Thank you! I'm so glad you commented on those black on black designs! Barely anyone notices them, and they were made after I noticed them in a reference picture of Midna from the game. I ended up sketching out my own stencil for it and sprayed over the cloak with a matte black spray paint. The fabric itself has a shine to it since it's a satin, so the designs become really noticeable in the light.

Didn't the paint make the fabric crispy?

Also, on the skirt it looks like there's almost a purple tint. Is that through paint?

Surprisingly no. I thought it would do that at first, but the spray paint is surprisingly flexible and doesn't take away any fabric movement. It can also be ironed at a low temperature setting without damaging anything. The purple/red tint design on the skirt is dark red spray paint that I just painted on with a brush for that pattern that Midna has there. It's layered on top of the black spray paint design and was painted on after the white fabric paint.

Yay for happy surprises! So is the design on the cloak and skirt the paint or the fabric? Does that make sense? You said that the fabric had a shine, so the designs became noticeable. Does that mean you painted everywhere BUT where the designs are?

You've just done such a great paint job I can't tell which part is paint and which part is the original fabric. How did you get the lines to be so crisp?!

All the designs are painted in some form or another. Take away all those designs and you're left with my original plain black satin fabric that I started out with. My lines are crisp since I tend to be pretty meticulous about my cosplays anyway, so most of it is freehand, but for some parts I found it easier to draw out a stencil first which really helped me on certain areas that I was unsure about.

Thanks! And it's fine that you asked. ^^ Yes, and it was called a Zentai bodysuit that I got off of ebay for about $30. The black designs are spray painted on.
