Description EDIT: This spot is reserved for my biggest thanks to ^Halatia for the DD feature!, and to everyone else who has taken an interest. Thank you!

This poem can be read in three different orders.

Purple

The clientele
slipping in among the crowd
straight on "until"

Elaborate no further.
after 3 A.M., you couldn't more than keep
just sitting around and listening

for about three years, new arrivals
was all wrong
not brazen, not rhythmic
not, not

Their first uncertain year:
uncannily human shrieks and cries
inspired by wild expressiveness
the other sounds rise to a hectoring beauty
antic sounds, willfully absurd, seal the urgent message
chilling a funeral cortege with skeletons
if not by the force of law then by the force of the thugs.

Orange
How long the night went on:

Huddled on the stand, the handsome young piano player
a familiar number under one name or another
sweet, straight, "under conversation"
who blazed through town now and again
even if he couldn't let let go the promises of all he heard.

A three-minute drama
finds ease and release in manipulation of
an unexpected emotional punch
from Chopin's "Funeral March"
audience reactions
once mocking and dancing
his most extraordinary talent.

Together
The clientele

straight on "until"

After 3 A.M., you couldn't;

The most complex passage I've seen in found poetry... ever. Extraordinary! It's magnificent!

Found poetry isn't easy, and combining two poems into a cohesive single is nothing short of brilliant. Well done.

I love how reading each one actually gives a different feel to it; the purple has a slightly melancholy tang to it, while the orange has a feel of splendor and wonder, but when they combine it makes the poem into even more of a story than the other two alone.

Seriously, this is awesome!

There's a whole group that showcases this kind of poetry , if you're ever interested in reading more from other artists. One piece might blow you away, but it's really incredible to see how different people approach found poetry. = )

Thank you!

This is great, and must have taken so much effort! To be able to compose three different poems, seperate or overlapping, from simply two pages of The New Yorker is simply amazing work. A well-deserved DD!

Thanks for the enthusiastic comment, Tanekura!

I know it says right there on the bottom, but I appreciate you taking note that I used The New Yorker as my source material. I use it a lot - every week I read it and then have at it with a sharpie. ; )

PS: I looked at your gallery and LOVED it. You're quite talented; I wish I was one of those people who can write AND draw (AND color) -jealous jealous-

No problem!

Haha, the only reason why I would ever read the new yorker is to see the comics at the back xD I find them funny xD

Ps: Aww, thank you! Although I don't really excel in writing Dx

Haha it's true. Although I read it cover to cover, I have a tendency to look at the last page before I start at the front.

Well, jeez. If you were super awesome at everything I'd ask you what your secret was. o_O ( )

But not everyone has to read in those orders, I like to mix it up a bit an read different parts at different times, free style. You know what I mean.
