Description This bear of a woman can obviously handle herself- and handle you as well. If you're going to try to beat her, your only shot is to get her before she gets you, because once she enters the fight it's all over.

The tears.
This is devotion.

The poor thing needs to learn when to relax, and have faith in others.

And boy, she is really cute! Good work!

RoyallyFlushed [2009-02-13 02:24:28 +0000 UTC]

I know this is just "knowledge" from Wikiepidia, but is she Devotion?
The way you described her made her seem as though she'd get really into whatever she does, like fighting, but devotion can also cause bitterness, so the tears? It's also a knightly virtue, so it's not quite the same, but when I think knight, I think of protecting, so the shield and cop-like outfit fit. More or less.
I don't know really, I'm just taking a shot in the dark.

One nice shot in the dark, mister. You win!

You got her name and a great description of why!

Though the tears are more of a "It hurts me more than it hurts you" kinda thing.

Also, with this comment, this picture has unexpectedly become our most commented Deviation! Just beating out The Pageant page 20.

Guess wikipedia's not always bad.

And yeah, I was having trouble with the tears. Plus, I'm sick, so, not exactly the best train of thought right now.

The hair color makes more sense to the scheme of her other form. She just retained it like Pride and Envy did.

It's no real clue here.

dynosaru [2009-02-12 12:53:06 +0000 UTC]

I think it is Temperance. Temperance is the cardinal virtue of moderation, it means to resist the natural urges of the bodie with moderation. It also means to have the strength to not sin.
She is so big because of that strength, also you could only beat her if you attack first, because of that strength.

Gamonthehand [2009-02-12 11:02:49 +0000 UTC]

The moment i saw her I thought Determination. she just looks like something is GONNA GET DONE. and its gonna get done now. I can see others have guessed this already. But it just hit me so hard I had to state my feeling that this in determination or I know id let her down.

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

Zero-Shift64 [2009-02-12 10:41:52 +0000 UTC]

I don't know if it's been said already, but I'll guess Determination, a firmness of purpose and willingness to act on one's choices. This stands in contrast to Sloth. She looks like she could stand firm in any choices she makes but to be perfectly honest, the tears have me totally stumped.

She may also be Devotion, but I'm just throwing out a D word at that point. I don't know how devotion correlates to her appearance.

Okay I'm suprised no one else guessed this one...

Patience = "Forbearance and endurance through moderation. Resolving conflicts peacefully, as opposed to resorting to violence. The ability to forgive; to show mercy to sinners."

Do you have any idea how F'ing painful and difficult it is to know that you have the physical strength to utterly destroy someone and yet force yourself to be patient with them instead? it's enough to drive a anyone to tears.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheSoylentOrange In reply to Wolfjacobs [2009-02-12 09:37:30 +0000 UTC]

Patience has been guessed, but I can safely say that it's not that. Remember, every other Sin/Virtue has kept the first letter of their mortal name consistent with their applied Vitrue/Vice. COurage = Carol, Lust = Lucy, Sloth = Sally, etc., so you're looking for a virtue that starts with "D"...

Wolfjacobs [2009-02-12 08:50:53 +0000 UTC]

The first virtue that comes to my mind is Fortitude. In my deffinition fortitude is both strength and perseverance with durability. Sometimes perseverance can be painful. shrug.

angel00101 [2009-02-12 08:32:11 +0000 UTC]

Now that i know her name it made it much easer to know what one she is. Her true name is Diligence

Diligence is a zealous and careful nature in one's actions and work. Decisive work ethic. Budgeting one's time; monitoring one's own activities to guard against laziness. Putting forth full concentration in one's work.

I think that is right.

Donna, eh?

Determination? Dexterity? Damnation? Ditz?

That doesn't help too much. D:

Damnation because she's strong and sorrowful, and once she strikes, she strikes eternal. Dexterity because.. um.. she's fit? Determination is sticking with your goals no matter how painfully.... and ditz because she broke a nail or something.

TheSoylentOrange In reply to DanTails [2009-02-12 08:05:30 +0000 UTC]

Just off-hand, given that so many people have guessed otherwise... I'd go with Kindness. The way she's crying... that seems to match up with the incredible sympathy that the virtue of Kindness represents. But that's about as deep as my guess goes. I didn't exactly give it an in-depth shot XD

BEisgewd [2009-02-12 04:27:02 +0000 UTC]

I guess I'll take a stab at it...Temperance.

Temperance is defined as governing natural appetites for the pleasure of senses according to the bounds of reason.

For those of you who may not understand,
Temperance is the ability to control one's desires.

There are quite a few clues to this as well:

She does not flaunt her looks, as she dresses in very plain non-revealing clothing, which proves she can resist the sin of Lust.

Her clothes are not very expensive looking or very ornate, so she can resist Greed.

She very fit looking and built, which means she has the ability to resist the temptations of Gluttony and Sloth.

Gluttony happens to be the opposite of Temperance as well.

These facts further prove my theory, as Gluttony is mainly a sin revolving around desires, specifically...food.

Wrath, Envy, and Pride do not apply to this virtue however, as they are mainly sins revolving around one's personality.

Paul?

The virtues aren't solely biblical. As I said earlier, we had to pull from multiple sources for Virtue since they're not as clear-cut and well-defined as the Vices are...

st paul, the guy who put the virtues into catholic teachings. also Pope Paul the ?th. same guy, different names.
i might be mistaken, but i think that's who he meant. im going to have to go with chastity, because
chasity=Courage and boldness. Embracing of moral wholesomeness and achieving purity of thought through education and betterment.
if justice were one of the seven instead of the eighth, i would have to go with that.
either way, those two are the most strong and have the most fighting spirit out of all the other virtues.
so, if you count justice as a virtue, i'd go with that, though i would have to say it's chastity. (which would be great if you named her that, since chasity is a name)

Fortitude is never giving up, never backing down, even when your hurting. Even when you feel tears on your face, you suck it up, and do what has to be done.

She's Fortitude. (Or whatever other word would be used) ^^ that's my guess.

I'm going to go with Faith on this one.

Faith is a strong belief (thus, the muscles), can incorporate fidelity and loyalty (the shield hairpin), and yet can be irrational (much like crying - it solves nothing; it just happens).
