Description

I finally got this to a point to where I am pretty dang happy with it!

Here’s a little blurb about them.

Crypths have a matriarchal society. They are led by a group of females with one appointed as the spokesperson of the group; though each member has equal say in every political decision presented to them. Males are not particularly weaker they are just submissive and do everything in their power to appeal to the females. They are normally more lavishly decorated in jewelry than the females are. Some male Crypths that oppose society standards leave their homeland to live among mixed species cities.

Crypth males go through a few times in their lives where they go nearly feral minded because of a burst in hormones that cause them to become more fertile. This becomes the time where most Crypth couples mate and the female has to take care of the male to make sure he doesn’t…hurt himself or others around him with his anger issues. Which sometimes involves making the male stay indoors or wear a loose fitting muzzle to discourage biting. There are however medications that single Crypths; and others that do not wish to go through with the trouble of losing their minds take, that completely eliminate the effects of the hormone imbalance. The medication is provided as a life necessity and given out for free to any males that need it.

It’s custom for a male Crypth to lower their heads in a sign of respect to any female Crypth that stares them in the eye; staring a male crypth in the eye is a show of dominance by a female. Males greet each other by bowing heads and touching ears as their ears are very sensitive and vulnerable parts of their body it shown as a sign of trust.

Really nice work on these guys - I really LOVE their unique and unusual noses, and the way their faces seem to almost have a mischievous, smirking expression! ^^
Really nice details and I like the stance/poses you've used - and the info about them is fascinating, that mating-aggression is very interesting indeed, I think perhaps that this may partly be why they've evolved to be a matriarchal society - if females are not vulnerable to this hormone imbalance they may be considered more "stable" and therefore thought of as more suitable and reliable leaders. I also like the idea of medication in more modern times to control this hormone-driven outburst.
I also just want to ask - the female's tail and ear tips are different from the males - is this a mark of sexual dimorphism, or is it just random inter-individual variation that is irrespective of sex? ^^
Anyway, great job, love these guys! <3

Lovely ref on these guys! Your Crypths and Swifthorns are some of my fav species! Really interesting design and I love the culture you implemented with them here. I have to say, writing details (such as a piece of their culture) goes a looong way when making a species more interesting and provides so much depth, i think. I have to say, they have such a lovely facial design. Awesome work!
