Description Growing up with the German language version of Darkwing Duck, I was delighted to find that the original characters had partially different names, which turned out to be even greater... Splatter Phoenix, the villainous artist that appeared in only two episodes, became "Abstrusa Abstrakta" in the German synchronisation, yet when I first heard her English name, I completely fell for it. VoilΓ .

Given my nickname, it is fairly surprising that I've never drawn my namesake before. Yep, yep, yep,... that had to change. Here she is, busily re-painting herself with one of her magic brushes.

Well, have fun drawing her! She's such an expressive character and I love her banter.

Ah, I wondered about your username. I haven't seen this episode yet, must get onto it! (So far, I've watched the first 26 episodes and 'Dead Duck'.)

SplatterPhoenix In reply to Star-Gamer [2012-08-21 21:01:16 +0000 UTC]

Yep, that's where I got my name from. I really loved this name when I first heard it in the original English version of the show (I'm Germany, so Splatter's German name is "Abstrusa Abstrakta"... not my cup of tea).

MountainLygon [2011-03-12 21:34:17 +0000 UTC]

I love her name. It says that she essentially can't be defeated. Even melted down into a puddle of thin pain by turpentine, there's always a chance she will rise again. She's clever with names and a good artist. But her character designing skills leave something to be desired. Don't tell her I said that, though.

I never did figure out what she hated about comic books. Graphic novels are far more than just Sunday funnies.

I used to love the cartoon, but out of all the episodes, this was the one I took pains to get and keep on video tape. As someone who could've been an art major (went the graphic design route instead) I got all the little art jokes right from the first time I saw it and fell in love with the whole concept of the character! So cool to see she has another fan!

First of all: I love the alliteration in the title!
Secondly: what a vibrant picture! The background caught my eye at once and I kinda fell for the paint splatters (heh). And, of course, you captured her looks perfectly. Kudos!

Thank you, dear. Alliterations are a lovely stylistic device... yet I've got to admit that I nicked the title from the show.
