This seems very reminiscent of one of the tech manuals.
And while this is way more detailed (and cool work!) than the almost-sketch on the cover: I still don't get why they build a maintenance hall that's more than two times the size of the mechs worked on inside.
It's not like you could actually put a mech into another mech like a knight into a suit of armor, so why make this higher than useful?

Allowances for large vehicular mech movers? Think of Saturn V booster carry-alls, as well as Shuttle main fuel tank movers.

OK, those might need a bit of clearance. But frankly: Most tanks (carry alls, salvage, main battle tank) in the BT universe are about knee high for heavy mechs.
That thing still has loads of room to spare.
You could park a Leopard dropship in ... waaaaait...

to test the jump jets maybe ?
scene is from the back of the original 3025 tech manual.

Oh yeah, I remember having that Tech Manual in my hands for the first time, turning it over and going "oh wow, Mech maintenance!"
I think the jump jets are rather tested in something like todays test firing of rocket engines: a very solid fixture for the engine in question, be they mounted on a tank of highly volatile chemicals or inside a war machine, and then burn some fuel through them.
But yes, that'd surely require some room to give the exhaust plume a larger air volume in to dissipate.
And seeing that the most common method of jump jets I remember involves water being vaporized by the reactor heat: Pretty hot stuff.

I always really liked these scenes of the expansive 'mech maintenance facilities. Gives a good idea of the sweeping scale of the war machines and what's required to keep them in the fight.
