Description --------------------full view please------------

characters- Nicolas Zabor Presnov, and the hampster Fred.
from- my comic, "The God Machine."
media- photoshop

Part of my effort to shed light on other characters as of late.
(though it's odd, I hadn't noticed, that I have been doing more of my other characters. Though I can't help it that i love Good God and Guy so much. They're my favorite creations. ; )

So here we have Nicolas and his assistant hampster, Fred.
--Nicolas is a part of the Order that serves under the Gods. His biggest contribution to the Order is his philosphy and theories about the nature of existence and new ideas to help aide in the way things are run. Unfortunately he's never taken seriously due to his methods in which he achieves his theories, tests and results. He uses his pet hampsters as part of his experiments (and no we're not talking Richard Gear experiments. XD ), and tends to be outlandish, messy and egotistical in the way he presents himself, making him seem more like a fool then a Philosopher. What also makes Nicolas a pain in the ass, is his love for Good God, always nagging her, and following her around like a shadow. That Nicolas. (And he knows Gods can't love!)

I drew up the Creeper, and Nameless the other day, I'll see about scanning those in and doing some coloring sometime soon.. (seeing as how i feel about the drawings at the time.)

He reminds me a little of Iori (if Iori wore glasses and carried hampsters around with him)

This guy sounds interesting. I like these kinds of characters, and he definately gets extra points for having a hamster.

Though not as many points as he'd get if it was a panda hampster.

Panda hampster.. now there's an idea. Maybe i'll give him one out of his whole brew of hampsters. ^^ that'd be cute. Though i don't want things to get too cute with Nicolas. ; But he is abit naive too.. so maybe cute would work... hmm. : )

Oo, he's gorgeous in all his scruffy glory. <3 I love his hairstyle. It looks similar to one I've been using on my own characters. Different color, tho.

Sorry. It's a bad habbit. One of the characters in the story I'm writing The Angels Thesis, has a little girl that's in love with the Hamtaro cartoon. ;;

I think I work with him. At a minimum I work with the hamster. He is in the office next to mine. Wonderful image and backstory. I appreciate the humor.

I love the colors you've used here to bring him out in a totally different light from the other characters. It'll be so fun to see the other works you're putting up, too!

Hehe... I think I like him already.
I've got a pair of really similiar glasses. It was a pain to find'em, no one makes round glasses anymore (which is strange, because of Harry Potter and stuff... I thought it'd be popular... but even the "official" HP glasses I saw were far from being circular...).

The right arm looks too long... in comparision to overall body proportions and to the left hand. It always looks strange if someone can reach hes knees standing straight...

no fair! I've been looking for round glasses like that forever! (i was just having the same conversation with my husband about what a pain it is to find those damn round glasses. I've been searching since I was 12 years old.. i'm now 24. >_< )

hmm yeah, I think you're right on the arm.. Though the 2 arms are off by a fraction, and his body is at a slight tilt.. hmm.. it could use some teaking. I think the real problem here is working at a size that's bigger then the screen, and working on the body in seprate bits and not being allowed to see teh full picture as you're drawing it (a disadvantage of doing digital drawings.) Anyways, good call. I wonder how i'd go about fixxing it.

Have you tried having a preview window on a side of the screen? Or maybe figuring out the proportions first at a big zoom out... propably on a separate layer, so it doesn't get in the way later...
I mean, I don't want to lecture someone who's far more experienced than me, or play captain obvious...
anyway, it depends on what software you're using now (I'm fairly sure you've written about it somewhere, but I just don't remember...).

Well... my quest for round glasses was much shorter... two years at most... but I just got lucky, I guess.
This and my country's still full of old junk.

On a side note... this glasses are actually made of some really soft metal... I live in constatnt fear that I'll break them... well I actually did, once. No more replacement parts.

And about the hand... I'm not sure if one should correct this kind of mistakes on a finished piece... there's a risk of destroying everything (well, there's always backup...)... and it makes the effort used to make the previous version seem meaningless...
I think you should rather pay more attention next time...

it's more like being in the moment of a drawing with it's flow then acracy. I try to not calculate things to much. -with doing so you tend to make things stiff, and doesn't lend itself to a certain movement that takes place when you do things off the hip. Though there are images where i will correct things if i feel nessary to help with the overal consistentcy. But if a drawing comes out just fine and with errors, I feel that it's sucessful on a whole. (Though I would hardly call "Nicolas.." sucessful, or a true finished work that I would consider one of my best.. [actually i've been wanting to scrap the damn thing since i put it up.. but it's a character that hasn't gotten light.)

problem with a view thats far away from the actual image i'm drawing is that I lose the sense of what kind of drawing I'm doing on a whole. Sometimes I just love to be with the drawing from the first mark I make. Like be imersed in a drawing. I supose my problem is that I need a huge canvus/surface in front of me, and being able to see it all so i can work it all at once. I still like traditional media over digital when it comes to this.. but digi still lets me fuck up as much as i like to and corrrect it . (btw, i use photoshop for everything. I list it with every piece I do at the top.)

I dunno if i talked in circles there. : O Sorry if i did. I'm truelly in the moment with every drawing I do. I supose it's teh fine artist in me that can't let me be a true illustrator.. :_:

-the glasses. Man 2 years? puts my effort to shame, lol. I've gotten close to the round glasses, but nothing beats having real deal John Lennon glasses.. though with your horror of breaking yours, makes me uneasy about this search. ; I keep wondering if they hide these glasses in teh old folks section... I should just try online.. online is good for that. : )

lol, mine didn't even last for a day. I went to bed and they were fine and the next morning -boom- dead. Maybe its just me and my presence just makes them up and die out of desperation.
